looks like I was right about Ryse......

Though Kotaku seemed to enjoy it despite saying it makes it impossible to fail and it plays itself half the time...

and gamespot... ouch
http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/rys...571/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=pulsenews

yikes ... sure i expected the scores to be around 7-8 (some are 7s) but quite a few are even handing out 4s and 5s... didn't expect that after all the videos

reading through some reviews what i find troubling is how some mention the combat being boring/repetitive, only to mention later that the single player lasts 5 hours...

so it's off to dead rising 3 as _the_ game to get or go for the multiplatform games IMHO

The Xbox One is an impressive marriage of software and hardware that raises the bar in terms of what we expect from a living-room machine. Looking forward more than it looks back, the Xbox One feels like it's from the future.

An encouraging end note from Polygon. This generation in general seems to promise a lot. I just wish both Microsoft and Sony had a stronger lineup for release to give us some glimpse of whats going to be on offer.

Side note: Polygons videos are great. They really are beautifully made.

Can't take these game reviews to serious, I mean Ryse is being panned everywhere yet Kotaku is talking it up like its the next big thing. I really want to try Dead Rising 3 and maybe Plant vs Zombies: Garden Warfare.

Bless

Here's a reddit thread with all Ryse review scores

Based on hype and reviews, Ryse is the Knack of the XB1 launch lineup

Knack got panned by critics, but I am really enjoying it. It's not the greatest platformer I ever played, but I am having a fun time with it. I think many of these "gaming journalist" are going the way of the movie critic and am finding less and less reviews I can take seriously.

If I were getting an Xbox One, I would definitely pick up Ryse. No clue if the game is any good, but it interests me.

I thought by looking at some of the RYSE gameplay it has some god of war type gameplay with the combos and QTEs. Figured it would least get in the 70s from most reviewers.

Still will probably pick up the game along with dead rising since its the only launch exclusives out. Kameo in the 360 launch, was not liked by most people and I actually enjoyed it.

Just curious...how does the fact that they are exclusives make them more appealing? Why is there a need to pick up exclusive launch titles? There are a bunch of non-exclusive titles out there that got way better ratings than Ryse.

Knack didn't really have any hype.

Strange thing is that a whole lot of people seem to like Knack a lot more than the professional reviewers do.

Forza being good is not a surprise. That was my favourite Xbox game when I had a 360. Turn 10 always do a good job.

Game.co.uk have day one bundles back in stock.

Because I already have titles like assassin's creed IV and battlefield for the ps4, I'm sick of buying sports games and don't want call of duty.So that's why I'm looking at the exclusives xbox one is offering now, even though RYSE is getting so so reviews.

For me it's about getting something that was made especially for the system I have. What's the point of buying a game that's available on the last gen systems? If you're just comparing launch exclusive to either ps4 or xb1, I want my xb1 exclusive titles so I have something that the ps4 lames can't get their hands on. I'm assuming most base their decision on either "what system (xbox or play station) I have had all along" or "which system has the exclusives I want to play". For me it's both. I want the system that has Halo.

Late to the thread. First off $499 is on the high side. Secondly, anyone know what % of new games will be compatible with the last gen Xbox?

0%. Neither the xbox one or ps4 are backwards compatible with previous generation systems. However, there is rumored hope that one or both could be compatible in the future via an update. Both new gen systems use much different hardware than last gen, so out of the box it isn't possible. There have been hardware emulation programs in the past, so who knows for sure. At this stage it doesn't seem likely.
Unless i just completely misunderstood your question.
If you are asking what new games will still be made for 360, then there are several. Titanfall,South Park, and several other titles have been announced. Its hard to imagine the big name titles not doing 360 versions for maybe the next year, but who knows.

I like what ms is doing with the one, but I still say they should have pumped those specs up!

No reason a machine that's 100 bucks more should be 50‰ SLOWER than a machine 100 bucks cheaper, camera or not.

They should have been equal.

MA dropped the ball.
As far as multiple systems and which version of a game to get, I'm probably going to do what I do now, which is find a game I want, look at reviews, see which system has the better version and buy that one.

It's why I got splinter cell blacklist on 360

Kind of shocking there is no backwards compatibility. There are some games too great to die (Halo series, L4D) I was wondering how my developers would make both a 360 and One version of their games...

The type of chips makes it undoable.

What they can do is re-release the games as a one version.

It could be great, it could go on sale as a "legacy collection" considering they could put 2 dual layer dvds on one single layer blu ray disc.

They can make a "halo legacy" release with halo 1, 2, 3, 4, wars, ODST on one dual layer blu ray disc.

Ps3 can't really do it due to their games already being on blu ray, it would have to be multiple discs.

Just another way to suck money out of the customer...

Good question, I was asking myself the same a day or two ago.

I haven't had a chance to tally things up, but it seems that a decent number of third-party publishers are going to put out titles for both the PS3 & PS4, and XBox 360 and XBone, at least over the next 6-12 months.

For example: Assassin's Creed IV, FIFA 14, Madden 25, etc., up to Watch Dogs (Amazon says June 30 2014 release) and Destiny (right now, scheduled for Sept 2014 release).

Obviously, they need the money, and if they have developed something, they will need to make as much $$$ off of it as possible.

Over the 12 month window, I'm expecting it to dwindle to zero.

How?

If anything it's a way to keep people still holding onto their old systems and still possibly buying games for ut

Lack of backwards compatibility via emulators.

I can see this on some schedule, maybe it depends on how 360 games continue to sell? I suspect the 360 pool is huge and how many will upgrade to the One right away?

I'm trying to hold off as much as I can until I upgrade my home theater setup.. This thread is not helping LOL

(I have a 720p projector with 120" screen, 360 looks amazing on it, however I want to upgrade to 1080p before I upgrade the xbox)

Given majority of games appear to run at 720p with couple of exceptions, I'd imagine the xbox one would look great on your existing setup :)
