And the 2 underdogs team don't have appeal?

No one outside of Philly or NY wants to see the Phillies and Yankees again. It's about time we had some new teams in it.
I doubt the rest of the country knows anything about these teams.

It is nice to see the Rangers win.
I have zero respect for the Yankees as in my mind they buy their wins with their massive pay roll. The small market teams earn their wins.

Well now they'll know. And they'll see some good baseball. You don't have to be an expert on a team to watch them play.

It's boring for you because your team isn't in it. But I'm going to enjoy this World Series.

Congrats to the Gigantes. They outplayed the Phils the entire series. It just astounds me that Howard didn't even swing at that last pitch though. That pitch was in the area that he usually hits for power. That non-swing tells me that he would rather have Werth try to win it than take the reins himself.

Why do we pay him so much now?

So do you Yankee fans think Werth will be in the pin stripes next season?

Agreed. I'm damn happy that neither the Yankees nor the Phillies are in the World Series. I'll be watching it pretty closely.

I was vacationing in SF when they were playing SD near the end of the season. Everyone in the city was wearing orange. Congrats to the Giants. There is probably a huge party going on right now in the City by the Bay.

I call giants in 5 giants beat halliday and I think that shows that they can handle Lee.

I still can't bet against Lee. He has and can shut down anybody. With that said, I hope the Giants win, and think they have a shot--Texas will have a much harder time busting out the runs in SFO than in any park they've played in so far this postseason.

Well put:D:)

Since I'm a Yankee fan, I was certainly bummed to see them lose and maybe I'm in the minority when it comes to Yankee fans and it could be that I've only been into baseball for a year, but I am happy for the Rangers. They kicked our asses with the exception of one game and one inning as Joe Girardi said. They are a good team and I'm happy for 'em.

And I'm SO GLAD the Giants won the NL Pennant! Wow. I got really nervous there in the 9th, since it was a one run game and all, but they did it. I'm really happy for 'em and I'm rooting for 'em in the World Series. Not because the Rangers beat the Yankees, but because I like the fact that the team is a "team of misfits." Rejected by other teams, but came together to win the NLCS and go to the World Series. The stories of both teams are inspiring to me, but I'm rooting for the Giants, because I like their unorthodox style. (Lincecum, Brian Wilson, etc., etc.....) They just seem really eccentric and fun. I like their style. Let's go Giants!!

I want the Rangers to win just because I think that organization really needs it, the Giants have always had a decent amount of their seats filled, the Rangers were looking to cut their payroll because they couldn't afford it until the MLB said they couldn't... Plus I like Ron Washington and a couple of their players.

you should try moving out of yankee country. surprisingly, there are people out there who aren't new york fans!

LOL talk about a fair weather fan.

uh no, i just grew up a hockey fan and its always been my favorite. i love the sox, but compared to hockey baseball is just ****in boring.

It's because they're force-fed a steady diet of Yankees, Red Sox, and Phillies by ESPN: the Eastern Sports Promotion Network.

I was pretty nauseated by the coverage of the NLCS all around. Every single analyst on ESPN picked the Phillies to steamroll the Giants. Before every game broadcast on Fox, Mitch Williams and Eric Karros picked the Phillies to win every single game. I loved how after Game 4 the anchor-guy sitting at the desk with them called them "Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum" to mock their bad prognostications.

Oh well, nothing like winning to make up for the lack of respect!

I fully expect the national media to get fully on board the Rangers bandwagon now. Go ahead! The Giants have been underdogs all year, so might as well stay in that role. I'm glad that for once, after all these years and all these playoff series, the Giants finally have the home-field advantage in a seven game series.

Ditto.

You're not going to notice there's an east coast bias in baseball when you live on the east coast and are a fan of one of the teams that benefits from the excessive coverage. If A-Rod or Halladay so much as farts, it gets 20 minutes of coverage on SportsCenter.

It's about damn time the World Series was between some teams west of the Mississippi. If people don't know who they are, then they'll learn over the next 4 to 7 games.

Either that or no one will watch.

I say that only half joking I'm not sure if these two teams and their stories will be compelling or not. The ratings could remain seedy, or they could be way, way down. We'll know soon.

The rating were low for all of the playoffs, MLB is just not as popular as it used to be. I wouldn't be surprised if the ratings were record lows for a WS.
