Hello all,
I am new to this forum. I created a website with iWeb and it looks fine using Safari, but when I use IE or Firefox or any other browser, there are little boxes that appear around any text box that I have made a link.

The site is www.girlslikemath.com.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so could you tell me what I have done wrong.

Thanx

One thought on this (because those boxes in FireFox are indeed strange!) is that I noticed when looking at the page source code that you are using the original iWeb 1.1.2 which came with iLife 06 and it was prone to quite a few limitations and, shall we just say, oddities to be kind.

The new capabilities and corrections provided in iWeb 2.ox (iLife 08) were quite numerous and I really think you should consider moving up to at least it. I had no substantial success with 1.1.2 but was quite pleased with v.2. Now of course there is another revision (which I will assume is 3 but I am away from my system with it on to check) that comes with the latest iLife 09 as well but I can't see where it added as much to v2 as v2 did to v1.

I'm in the process of giving my website a makeover. I haven't updated my blog consistently in two years, so no more blogging for me. One of my favorite hobbies is photography, so I decided to create a photography based personal site. It's still a work in progress, but I have a working demo up and running.

I still want to add more galleries and refine which shots I select for the site. But, this is just meant to be a working demo. I wasn't sure if I could get slideshow pro working or not! I did (I think)! Constructive criticism welcomed!

PS - It's a 4.5 second slideshow. In other words, every 4.5 seconds, you should see a new image.

Thanks for the advice sicmacdog, I may just have to upgrade to iLife. I've played with it though and it doesn't do much for me and my needs. I probably will be getting a new iMac soon so I may just wait. There are rumors of an even better operating system. But, ofcourse, I have been saying I was going to get a new one since iLife '08.

By the way, do they still sell iLife '08? There has been a few posts that I have read in which people have said iWeb '08 is less "buggy" than '09.

Thanks again

Well it is still available from Amazon as well as some other places. That being said, I would be one of the ones that would contradict the reports you have read about iLife 09's version of iWeb (3.0) to tell you the truth. After using the 08 version of iWeb since its introduction and now the 09 version for the past month roughly I am quite pleased with the new version myself and have not found it buggy at all. I love the option of only publishing the changed parts of a site that iWeb 3 introduced rather than publishing the whole site with every little change!

Anyhow, with either iWeb 2 or 3 you will see significant change of capability (and just program functionality) from your 1.x.x version.

I like, the simplicity of the site works so well. And there are some great photos there are well.

How do you all make these so non-iweb looking?

I've just got it and tried a gallery for my site;

www.topmarksdetailing.co.uk

The main pages aren't iweb, but the gallery is - i can't find any options in iweb to customise it as much as seen here...are they templated you're all using?

Thanks,

Mark

Hey Josh, its a good start and it;s working, Id say look around at other Photo sites and get some ideas. It still looks to iweb to me.
When I started with mine, I found looking around give me some good ideas.

Nice website dom - especially appreciating you being a swing band too - my website is a bit of a mix of a fundraiser for my Great North Run sponsorship, and tales of my swing dancing!:D Any comments by anyone are welcome - I'm looking for improvements all the time.

I'm not really using a template. Under themes I used the white (1.0) blank in version 1.1.2. I did everything else myself.

This is my 1st iWeb site. Used 09. Tried some of the templates 1st, but wasn't really diggin em. So, started from scratch.

remixitlikearecord.com

Am now focusing on making the pages load faster. More jpgs. Less pngs. Compositing graphic elements, etc.

Would also like to work on make it look better on PCs.

And convert the menu over to graphics instead of text based.

I think that it looks just fine on windows, however it did make my college PC crash =/ but these are lame anyways.

Some great website's posted on here by the way.

i really like your lionel coleman site - how did you do it ??

I've created a couple of sites using iWeb with the goal of making it not so iWeb looking. More of a personal look to them. Check them out and if you have any questions let me know.
