Is there external templates for iWeb that you could download?

I really like some of the sites, but I have to admit I am a little curious.

What is the effort required to make an iWeb site look 'non-iWeb". Would it be easier to just not use iWeb to create the sites in some cases?

For a lot of the sites I see, it just seems like Wordpress or Joomla would be an easier solution. But, I will admit I have never really dove into iWeb enough to try to create a 'non-iWeb" looking site. I always just thought of it as a good tool for what it is.

hey guyz , just want to say good work on all the sites i have visited from you ppl. great work, makes me want to do some real work..but my question is can i design stuff ie. web page/design on keynote and import them to iweb. or is it just out of the question?

Probably not the best place for this question, so I apologize in advance

There's one thing about iWeb that irks me. When I create a site, the content is uploaded to a sub-directory, rather than the root I specify. It drops an index.html in the root that redirects to the sub-directory. Any way around this?

i.e. http://mysite.com/index.html vs. http://mysite.com/My_Website/index.html

That really is too slow to load. Where is the site hosted? Have you made sure the images are small?

hosted by planet domain pics wers small jpeg but it seems iweb changed format for some to PNG files.

Hi, I notice on this site from MacRumourUser, you were able to get rid of the iweb generated url, and just have the domain name show.

to get rid of iweb url etc you need a html editor to change whatever you want
including key wors etc if you go to >view>source you can see editing.

I did not use iweb html snippet after i loaded it to my domain i changed
the meta tags etc to optimise for search engines.

Hi Guys here's my site, added mp3 player to the front and a retro looking one on the music page plus paypal buy now buttons using snippets. Also have a flash silde show on the front page.

It's very easy to get away from the iweb style, worth looking around at other websites then to start building from scratch.

Making a website in iWeb is like building a car out of Legos. Sure, it can be a fun project, but don't expect to drive anywhere in it.

I had an experience trying to build a site in iWeb for a personal project where I wanted rollover buttons. Sounds simple enough, right?
Well I had to use such a convoluted hack to make it work that I spent five times longer than normal setting it up. At that point I realized that iWeb was actually making my life harder and I kicked myself for not just using Dreamweaver.

I used twitter's html badge from their website, and styled it with CSS (took me forever). I then inserted the code into iWeb's HTML Widget.
