I like it, but it's too wide for my browser. I use a browser window that is 1042 pixels wide including the scroll bar.

Respect due, that is an awesome piece of creativity, both in the site and in your work. I'm embarking on making a site for my portfolio now - I'll post it up on here when done.

Well here's my attempt in iWeb

http://www.ashborne.co.uk

All opinions welcome.
After spending a year or so tinkering in Dreamweaver and Flash, spending endless nights giving myself headaches, iWeb is a welcome relief.
Having just made the switch to Mac, discovering iWeb, I was tempted to see what it could do. So far I'm pleased with the result, the only grumble is a slight rendering problem of some of the text within IE (what else!!). Safari and FF seem to handle it fine.

If the site looks good and works well, does it really matter how it was designed?

I'm a newbie to web design and iWeb, though I've had a Mac since the 512K. I just designed and published my first site:

www.clayhalo.com.

I'd love advice and feedback--especially from those of you with browsers other than Safari and Safari. On Firefox, there are some positioning and font issues , i.e., fonts are not the same as they are in iWeb/Safari, but until browsers can agree on a standard, that's the way it is. Why can't browsers agree on a standard, anyway? Sure would make our lives easier.

This is a great forum and a great topic!

hey guys, im putting my site on here for some input. it was created in iweb 06. im guessing many of you have trekked through iweb 06 all the way up to 09, so you know all the tricks and what you can do in iwb 06 to make it look a little more catchy. I am thining of upgrading to ilife 09 but afraid to lose all my stuff. anyways here is the site and i would also appreciate some feedback from those of you that are viewing from a pc. thanks

Your site looks fine. The "Breathee" on the home page looks slightly out of focus- but that could also be my tired old eyes. What kind of image did you use?

I built my site using an older version of iWeb/iLife. I have found that launching a site created with iWeb, and using another host other than Mac.com, creates a lot of problems (lots of html tweaking, post launch.) I only update the "news" page now cause it's too much of a hassle to relaunch the whole site.

Good luck to you

Your HTML:
HTML:
<img src="HOME_files/logo-for-test-webpage-web-r.png" alt="" id="id1" style="border: none; height: 219px; left: 256px; opacity: 1.00; position: absolute; top: 103px; width: 389px; z-index: 1; " />

The actual PNG image saved to the server is 388w x 219h, but you added via inline styling "width: 389px" which even though is only 1 pixel larger, scales the image. Some browsers handle scaling better than others, but they all can look a tad blurry when scaling. I've learned over the years to never scale (i.e. define a different width/height in HTML) unless its a special zoom feature intended for the page, i.e. a slideshow with zoom. BTW, might want to switch to using a stylesheet, assign an class intended for images and make all the look and feel changes in one centralized file. Much easier to edit that way in my opinion. Then use inline styling to override the stylesheet for that one specific image (cascading).

If the unscaled image is still blurry, sharpen via Adobe and save for web as JPG (optimized, 100%, maximum quality) or PNG-24 if dealing with transparency.

Can I get some feedback from you guys?

I have to designs that I am trying to decide between. Could you guys take a look at each and tell me which you prefer?

Thanks

Version 1: www.joshpix.com

Version 2: http://joshpix.com/JFP/JF_Photo_-_Welcome_2.html

If anyone has a suggestion as to how I could tweak the logo, I would like to hear it. If anyone has the skills to do it for me in Photoshop, I'd LOVE that!

Thanks guys!

Vewwie unwebbie!

WOW!

Nice looking site, I am just learning iWeb, but THAT doesn't even hint at iWeb to my untrained eyes. It's impressive to know that can be accomplished.

Did you overwrite all the iWeb elements in html? I guess what I'm asking is, did anything in iWeb really help you make your website, or was it just the data entry method for a completely custom designed site [sorry if that doesn't make a lot of sense, just learning the basics still.]
