Just an update, my site is no longer created with iWeb. I recreated it in Coda, all handwritten HTML/CSS. The new site however looks nearly identical to what I had done in iWeb. I just wanted more finite control and since my site gets a lot of traffic I wanted to reduce the unnecessary high bandwidth my iWeb site drew.

Here is mine done on iWeb09

I'm really liking both of those. I need to get into iWeb 09. Do you know of any tutorials I can find? I use to dabble in DreamWeaver, but since I have iLife, might as well use it right?

Dreamweaver is complex! as i'm more on the illustration side of graphics and design i needed a simpler web solution (but im picking up some html as i go)

The following site is a really good place to start, and don't let the guidelines stop you, you can customise nearly all of them to your desired look.

very clean, easy to understand tut's

I also used Bannerzest Pro to load my images (although the media viewer included is a bit dodgy as it doesn't work very well in iframes*)

(*html snippets)

other than that i just import layouts i create in photoshop, i was pleasantly surprised to find that you can deviate from the standard templates in iweb to make any kind of site you desire, i'm in the process of creating a blog with iweb these days.

If i ever need to edit some code to remove filenames or add metadata i use Coda which accesses directly into your idisk from the program, so its easy to select the web page you previously uploaded and swap out lines of code, just open, edit, save!

Thanks man! I really want to get into design stuff (flyers, video editing, websites) as sort of a fall back option for money (in case my computer science degree doesn't work out). I use to be decent at Photoshop, until I stopped playing with it everyday, haha.

Not exactly the most non-iweb site ever

but bit by bit it's coming together and looking less iweb like
am trying to incorporate photoshop in to it a bit, but it's tricky when you don't know much

Nice site, very simple and easy to read, good use of slide show, is it flash , embeded as html snippet ?

Great site! Very slick. You've really pushed it to it's limits. My brief was to keep my site as simple as possible.
I really cheated with the slide show. I created it in Keynote with its page transitions and exported it as quick time video. Really simple, but works.

I did notice that your url's contain "site" for example:
http://www.dominichalpin.com/site/cds.html
You can fix that by taking the files out of the defult site folder. You may not want to do this now though if you've already been indexed

Its hard because i host a few sites, but im not that bothered about it really.

Keynote, how easy ,

My main thing is getting good ranking for terms like "swing band" or "function band" here in the UK's Google, im on page one so thats the main thing.

Yeah you're right. Your site ranks really well in google. And you have a good page rank. Mine google page rank is 0, so I've got some work to do on that front!
