There a few things better than seeing the Lakers go down 0-3. Man I hate the Lakers.

By the way, during the broadcast Mike Breen said Jason Kidd is the all time steals leader. Not true, think John Stockton.

Lakers are down! :(

You speak to any Laker fan, most are pretty pissed....

I include myself...

As much as I hate to admit that no team in NBA history has come back from a 0-3 deficit and lakers chances of advancing are 2%; the Lakers will be the first!:D

Not only swept, but completely embarrassed. Add a couple of cheap shot flagrants at the end and it was ugly for the franchise.

Yes, they completely gave up at halftime. Then just ruined themselves in the fourth quarter.

Agreed, it was totally embarrassing. I would love to see Odom and Bynum suspended for a couple of games to start off next season for their flagrant cheap shots.

I don't like the Lakers but the way they were playing was just down right bad. Throw in the cheap shots and it was embarrassing to watch. Glad to see they are not going on in the playoffs.

I think it was pretty obvious by halftime who was gonna win, with Jason Terry and Peja pulling nonstop 3's out of their ass and the Dallas bench having outscored the entire Lakers team. Ron Artest bricking that dunk by a foot pretty much sums up how the Lakers played in this series.

And I'm a Laker fan, but Bynum should definately be suspended at the start of the next season. That was a horrible foul.

I am looking for at least a ten game suspension. Especially because the guy was in the air and had no way to recover. It is lucky he didn't have a serious injury.

That was just embarrassing. It's one thing to get outplayed, but to just quit on the game? AND act like punks? Pathetic.

As sad as that was, my long-term worry is that it could be couple more years before they are top contenders again, depending on how the new CBA works out. If a hard cap requires them to cut salary, they'll have trade at least one of their starters (or Odom) away. And they'll have a new coach. There is talk of scrapping the triangle offense, but they may not be able to right away, since their team is built around it. They aren't a fastbreak team and they don't have a real point guard. And since Kobe is gradually degrading into a very good player instead of a great one, I've thought for a while that this year might have been his last title run. Crappy way to finish it.

Now that that's over with, I'm torn as to who to root for now. A part of me wants to see Oklahoma City go all the way because they've built the team the right way with players that are admirable on and off the court. But I can't because 1) they haven't paid their playoff dues yet, and 2) the city itself and its fans don't deserve a title so soon after taking the team from Seattle.

Agreed Seattle got screwed. They will be the next city to get a team though.

I agree - I was thinking a 10-15 game suspension. Barea weighs about half as much as Bynum does and could've landed on his head from that clothesline.

Now that my team is out, I'd like to see the Celtics vs either OKC or Memphis.

Via J.A. Adande -- " Dwight Howard wants to be a Laker."

Yes!

I don't know how definitive that is. He's also hinted he wants a max contract from the Magic, and some people think he wants to recruit Chris Paul to join him there. At the very least, the idea that he might want to leave (especially to the team that signed Shaq away from them 15 years ago) would give him some leverage in getting a max contract and/or forcing some personel changes.

Another question though is: should the Lakers get him? That might sound stupid, but I don't think it is. The Lakers have an old team designed to play the triangle offense. Unless they can replace half their players quickly via trade, I don't see them switching to a different offense yet next season. They also are way over the salary cap and have committed a lot of payroll until 2014. Any player not making the minimum will have to be acquired in a trade.

I suppose Orlando might want to make sure they get something for Howard, but would they want to take on the contracts that the Lakers would have to get rid of take on whatever Howard's new contract is? Gasol and Artest are especially expensive. The only way another team takes on more money so the Lakers can reduce their payroll is if they give LA players that are also overvalued. Then what kind of team is Dwight Howard playing on? Kobe and a bunch of scrubs?

Complicating things even more is who the new Lakers coach will be. It's looking more and more like the team quit on Jackson because he was a lame duck. And Jackson had way more clout than the next coach will, whomever he is. For most of the last dozen years, a Laker player who wanted to defy his coach would be daring the media to ask, "Who's smarter, the player or the most successful coach in NBA history?" Next year, players won't be worried about that. They'll be able to get a coach dumped (like they did with Del Harris in the '90s) just like on any other team.

It would not be surprising if Howard didn't want to wade into that swamp. As it is, Howard is taking a risk by not signing a max extension before the new CBA comes into effect. Everyone expects that new contracts will be shorter, cheaper and with less guaranteed money. If I were Howard, I think I'd sign a max extension with Orlando now and then see how it goes. He can always force a trade in the future.

Artest and Odom acted like a couple of street thugs. They should get fined and suspended.

I don't think so. Bynum is already a good center who can dominate. With Odom and Gasol, we're fine with bigs. What we really need is a quick point guard and a pure shooter. Fisher gets burned by anyone under 30 years old and is gonna retire soon anyway. Guys like Artest missing their jumpers is what gave us games where the Lakers go to the bigs the first half, build up a 20 point lead, then ignore the bigs the second half, brick all their jumpers, and lose the game.

Artest did get suspended.

And if they're not going to suspend McRoberts for his elbow - flying elbow combo against Noah, Odom's ejection was enough.

I would mostly agree, but I worry about 1) who the next coach is, and therefore what system they will run, and 2) the new CBA. If a hard salary cap is enforced, then the Lakers would have to trade away at least one of those bigs. There goes the frontcourt size advantage. And without a trade, where will they get a point guard and shooter? I'm also not particularly confident that Bynum will be THAT dominant or durable. His footwork is not great and he doesn't move that well for a young center. But he's still a nice problem to have!

In the long run, I'm not that concerned. If any team has shown they can return to contention quickly after a title run, it's the Lakers. But this offseason is even more up in the air than 2004 was.

As a laker fan....

I would love to see Dwight Howard and Chris Paul come to LA

I would give up Bynum and Artest, we need a new team... I would not give up Gasol

My dream line up for 2011-2012

Center- D. Howard
Forward- P. Gasol
Forward - L. Odom
Guard - K. Bryant
Guard - C. Paul

It's beginning to feel like the 2005-2007 seasons all over again! Which were the horrible years of the Lakers, but this time we are losing Phil Jackson for sure...

Who is going to replace him?

You're dreaming all right. Howard and Paul will make $34 million combined next year. Bynum and Artest will make $22 million. We'd probably have to give up both Odom AND Blake or Fisher too, and why would Orlando or New Orleans want any of them at those prices?

What are the odds that any of them will take a pay cut to play with Kobe?

That's true. Even if Brian Shaw became coach, I doubt he'd still run the triangle. On ESPN Radio yesterday, Stephen A Smith went on the air and immediately went apesht and trashed Bynum and Odom. Then he calmed down and asked who they could trade to improve the team. Personally I have no clue.

I think we need a new roster too. But I don't think any team wants Artest. You'd end up trading Artest and Bynum or Artest and Gasol for one all-star.

Let's be honest you guys, the future on L.A. is Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Looks like Bynum has been suspended five games and fined $25,000. He deserves a bigger suspension.
