OK, you win. The new math is too much for you (< March 16 = no delivery).

All those who religiously check the tracking info and obsess that their iPad is "so close" have only set themselves up for disappointment. Apple has said the exact day they would be delivered. Any other expectation is a fallacy.

lol the new math?

the parts of speech and direct object of his post was too much for you to comprehend. He never said the release date was frustrating, the fact that it was within his grasp and coudnt get it was frustrating. This isn’t new English, basic reading skills we learned in elementary school .

I was just promoted to "preparing for shipment". There is hope!!!

Isn't it a great feeling? I got to that stage also this morning. I almost shouted "Yes!" a little too loud. I don't want my co-workers thinking I am crazier than they already think I am!;)

Easy on the self-righteous disdain

I think everyone is already well aware that the delivery and release date is March 16th. No need to keep pointing that out.

As adults, many are trapped in jobs and schools with family obligations and stress and competing demands pulling at us from every direction. Christmas isn't even really a holiday for adults because of the stress of gift giving, travel, money, etc.

But a couple times a year, Apple releases a product that people preorder, and the delivery date is a day that is more akin to Christmas for a child. We digitally "peek" to see where our gift is, and hope and pray that we get it early, just like we did as children. This experience is arguably one that instills a child-like sense of wonder, anticipation and excitement.

For those of you who are more serious-minded and above all of this, that's fine. You're entitled. But for those of us who indulge our inner child once or twice a year, let us have that and all that it entails. This thread is a virtual space for people to share that. If you're not interested, don't participate. But don't sit in judgment and deride people who are just expressing joy and excitement.

Wow, I've struggled to put into words (when describing the "excitement" to friends) what you've just done here... well said!

I completely, 100%, agree with this statement. Thank you for pointing this out to everyone.

Well said.

Also if FedEx preforms it's job (delivery on 3/16) with 99.997% accuracy (And that is a lofty goal) a statistically relevant number of people will have "Christmas Early". Unfortunately, using the same math some will have "Christmas Late"

Pre-ordered The new iPad 64GB Wifi Black and engraved on 3/7/12 at 5 PM PST to be delivered in San Diego, CA. Does anyone know how I can get UPS to hold for pickup? I can't seem to find this option on their tracking website unlike Fedex where there is the option right on their tracking website.

update :D I'm just happy it's now in U.S.A.! :p

Got my shipment notification today. I'm on Oceanside CA. Mine is shipping from Ontario CA via Fedex Overnight, for delivery on the 16th. My guess is the local FedEx office will hold it until Friday.

Firstly, great post, cwosigns!

Update to my order, Black 64GB VZW LTE, Ordered Saturday morning

While the shipment notification from Apple said I would be receiving my iPad tomorrow, FedEx has now told me that it's coming Friday. That's pretty great considering that I ordered after the guaranteed delivery date period!

Pumped!

Last night mine finally changed from processing to preparing for shipment and just now I got my email saying it has shipped out. Hurray :) Now I just have to wait for the tracking # to update haha

Just got a call from the Apple Store and they told me that my pick up, which was for some reason scheduled for March 27, will be ready earlier. I can pick it up on Friday. Order still says processing. But got the call. W00t.
