Future Shipment Hold

Welp, I guess it didn't do any good to anxiously refresh my order status page waiting for a shipping notice...

Shipped yesterday and Fedex tracking worked immediately. Initially, it said it would be an overnight delivery expected today (14th). Status updated this morning when Fedex picked it up... Future delivery hold to be delivered on the 16th.

Might as well go on with normal day-to-day life and forget about it until Friday. It's in Middletown, PA by the way. ~250miles from Syracuse.

I read somewhere that Apple and the shipping companies hold them at centeral hubs till the last minute as part of apples agreement... I realize it would be a tragidy if anyone got theres a day or two early but isnt that making it harder on Apple and UPS/Fedex??

Considering I ordered on Saturday knowing it wasn't expected to get to me on Friday, I really don't care about getting it on launch day. It may get here earlier than the 21st (the expected delivery date at the time of purchase) and that'd be awesome, but I'm not expecting it tomorrow.

Confused

Preordered The new iPad 64GB Black Wifi Engraved on 3/7/12 on the way to San Diego, California. Here's recent UPS tracking info. I'm just confused as to why from Alaska, it went to Kentucky? Why not go straight to California which I think it's closer to Alaska? I'm not worried it's just for me it doesn't make sense in the direction standpoint. Does anybody have a similar tracking info as mine where it left Kentucky already? What's the next point from there if my iPad is suppose to go to San Diego, California? Ontario, California? I can't wait! :D

I ordered 64gb ATT LTE model back on 3/7/12

Got this tracking today, it was shipped UPS back on 3/9 but... seems to have tracking updates in hold. The last update in the UPS system is 4 days ago. There goes the hoping to get the device early. And i am a bit jealous of everyone else who can at least get updates on where their ipad shipment is, looks like my info stopped on Sat and no info on its coming to America, Customs or Los Angeles for delivery on Friday.

UPS has a transport station in Alaska but there customs (at least for there world ease shipments) is in Kentucky. Thus iPads from China have to go through customs at Kentucky before they can be shipped out to us. I would expect an update on your tracking tonight or in the morning as they move them from Kentucky to a regional distribution center a bit closer to home. Unless Apple is just punishing UPS and FedEX and making them ship everything overnight to make 100% sure they dont have early deliveries.

mine finally shipped this morning via FedEx (thank god, UPS always screws something up IMO) for delivery on the 16th. I was able to change the address to have it delivered to my office since the order was still in Processing mode. I have to work on friday. Just have to wait a few more days. Arghhhhhhh........
 
My engraved 32gb wi-fi is still preparing to ship. Ugh! :confused:

It does say a 16th delivery. Not sure how its going to make it to the US in less than 2 days.
 
my new iPad is resting.....

My iPad has been in Nashville since Sunday when I received an email that it had been shipped. It's been sitting there this whole week. No movement at all. Although I'm expecting movement for all of us on Thursday the 15th.
 
A couple of days ago, my iPad was processing and just recently changed to preparing to ship. Can I expect it finally ship today? It's only 2 days before launch??? What on Earth are they doing???? :confused:

Yes you can although it may not ship til tomorrow. I've had Apple products ship from China to my doorstep with in 24 hours.

I'm on the same boat, and I don't understand either... Mine is getting sent to Seattle, WA and it decides to go farther away from us...

They're probably just holding off until the last minute if you're close to a hub because they can get it to you overnight that way. Mine still hasn't shipped either, so don't worry :)
 
why are you guys so worried about the practices of some of the biggest names in logistics. it might be helpful to read about FedEx and UPS while you guys wait for your new iPads. You might just find out the regional / national hubs of each of them.
 
Mine says it will ship on the 16th by 3pm. Anyone else getting something besides end of day?

I agree should see some movement on tracking on Thursday, although they'll be so busy we might see delayed updates. But on that note, i wonder will every UPS and FEDEX and other carrier vans/trucks present a big Target symbol to would be criminals........just keep out of CO you criminals!! :)
 
they better not mess this up...been sitting in KY all week, now I have spend all day Friday waiting & hope it gets here. I wish they did the release day on Thursday, that way if there were any shipping issues they could be corrected and delivered Friday..not the following Monday when i will be away

and it will go standard overnight to CT for delivery by 3/16/2012 3:00PM

32GB white wifi iPad ordered March 7th (5PM Eastern time). Shipped and sitting in Pennsylvania to be delivered to Maryland house (to be delivered by March 16th at 3PM)

64GB black wifi iPad ordered march 7th (545PM Eastern Time). Shipped and sitting in Nashville (to be delivered by March 16 by 3PM).

64GB Black Verizon LTE model ordered march 9th at 1230 PM Eastern Time). Still "preparing for shipping" Delivers by standard shipping on March 16th.

So my March 9th order hasn't gotten a tracking number yet.

There is a limit of 2 so there is a chance that they will cancel the third order.
