"Delivers on the 16th" doesn't mean it gets to you any sooner unless the shipping company messes up. Apple is a huge client for shippers, so they have much incentive not to release them before Apple tells them to. Individual screw-ups may happen, but it's highly unlikely.

It doesn't matter whether it's in Middletown, Ontario, Alaska, Nashville or Timbuktu. If it says "delivers on the 16th," that's when you'll get it.

Chill and wait until Friday. If you can't stand the anticipation, go stand in line at an Apple Store if it makes you feel better.

u have a problem call Apple

Not necessarily. Mine was at "Preparing for Shipment" until a few hours ago. I called Apple and they said it was fine, and that some people's status won't change until tomorrow depending on their proximity to the distribution center. And she said some people's status may never change, but they'll still arrive on 3/16.

I would call Apple just to ease your mind, but I don't think you have a problem.

Mine just changed to shipped a couple hours ago.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9B176 Safari/7534.48.3)

If you were promised Mar 16 del & yours is still at "order received" or "in process" then call Apple. Otherwise you are fine. FedEx & UPS both are very competent at moving packages from point A to point B in a 24hr span. It's what they do.

just got the notice, shipped from middletown (where the presumable pile of ipads are) to NC delivery set for march 16th (as expected) tracking number worked right away.

appletv still preparing for shipment.

Keep an eye on that AppleTV mine was cancelled by mistake today. And the only fix was them resubmitting it, which moves you to the back of the line. So my AppleTV is now 2 weeks out.

thanks for the headsup, i just went to preparing to ship yesterday after being processing since launch day order.

Well UPS shows on time and 2 business days left. The status still shows leaving Anchorage.

Anyway I'm going to put a bowl of water out for the Sled Dogs. It's hot in FL and I don't think the huskies will do well down here.

I ordered mine on the 7th with my iPads. And after watching it sit in processing for days it changed to cancelled this morning. I called Apple to see why it was cancelled and they said it was a mistake and shouldn't have been cancelled. But there was nothing they could do to move me up in the order line so I had to wait. Oh well at least they didn't **** up the iPad orders.

I just realized that my credit card was charged sometime last night for my in-store pickup order. I'm not sure if they just randomly charge your card whenever or if this means my iPad is now sitting in the vault at the apple store. Thoughts anyone?

This also happened to me, but when I check the order status on the Apple Store app it still says "Processing Items." It does say I can pick up the iPad on the 16th, but the "Processing Items" worries me. I didn't get to place my order until the morning of the 8th (just before 10 o'clock Eastern).

It said "CA" that I kinda assumed was Canada 'cause I've been working on a poster all day for a conference next week and the second author is from Ontario, Canada. So, um ... yeah ...
The iPad is in California.

More people live in California than in Canada. Can't believe the canucks got away with .ca for their top-level domain. Should have been .can. :D

i know dude! i dont get frustrated and smash the phone. i hate how %99 of all automated things have you enter your personal info (ya know to speed things up... ) only to have the csr rep ask you all the same questions you just gave to the robot:mad:
Oh no it's not that easy. That CSR then sends you to someone else who can "better help you." And you get to repeat your life history yet again. Oh joy!

I placed my order at about 7am ET, just a few hours before you. From what I've heard so far we aren't supposed to show up at the store until after we get an email from apple saying our orders are ready for pickup. I'm wondering if Apple is going to stagger them so not everyone is rushing in at the same time along with the others who are just walk-ins.

UPS, FEDEX for President, :apple: for Vice-President

It amazes me that you can order an iPad w/ engraving and have it in the US in a little over 48 hours. Maybe Apple, UPS and FEDEX could solve all the world problems. If Apple had asked the US Postal Service to handle this, 50% would arrive broke and the other 50% may have been delivered by June.

Now we need iFood and iWater to be sent to the impoverished.

Mine is showing as a little earlier - which is nice - I decided to work from home that day...

:D

mine says by 3pm. I had the whole day open to wait for package but now i'm taking relative for medical test in the morning. its looking like I won't be back home till noon 1230 ish.

My smart cover delivered around 230 pm last week but nervous this is gonna be delivered like at 1145 or something while i'm driving back. my luck i'll see the fed ex truck driving away as I pull in

Earlier today the Fedex guy was here to deliver the smart cover. While I was signing, he asked "Do you mind if I ask you what is this item?" When I told him what it is and why was he asking, he replied "Do you know how many of these I have in my truck?"

I asked whether he is working this route on Friday. When he said yes, I told him about the Friday iPad release - he had a startled look on this face. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a day off on Friday. :D

YES!

My tracking is the same as your, but a day later. It's been in Louisville for three days now. I've got to think they're holding them there to accomodate a 16 March delivery. My UPS guy usually doesn't come until late in the day, but occasionally, he will show up early so I'm stuck having to stay home all day just in case.
