Mines in PA as well in "pick up" status. Says it'll be delivered before 3:00pm on the 16th :apple:

Same here. I hope it's really before 3pm as I'm leaving for NYC at 5pm.
But usually the FedEx Truck comes by around 10am... so I'm quite sure this should work.

SPoke with apple

1. launch day 4:30 pm
2. WV
3. black:64G/WiFi
4. 3/7

Just called Apple. Could not tell me why still in preparing to ship but said would pass on to team that can fix. Gave me a Free smartcover to insure good experience. Still says deliver 3/16 but with the freebie I am worried. I had it shipped to my aunts house because I will be out of town visiting her this weekend. Hope it comes Friday. Anyone else have this model ship yet? Anyone else that ordered launch day still not show as shipped?

I just called Apple a little while ago and they told me it could still be preparing to ship because I am close to a shipping warehouse, I am not sure if this was a legitimate answer or not especially since I preordered the afternoon after it was announced and my order just got done processing last night around 5pm CST. Unfortunately, I did not get a smart cover or any other free stuff after calling.

I work for FedEx. What is the closest big city near you? There are numerous ways for the package to get from ONT to your city/town.

Fresno, CA is the biggest city and it's very near me. I'm having it delivered to my place of business, which always arrives around 10am, tho I'm sure this will be an exception.

It's iPad, iPad
Gotta get iPad on Friday
I'm lookin' forward to using it this weekend, weekend
iPad, iPad
Gettin' iPad on Friday
iPad's lookin' forward to be use on the weekend

You deserve to not get your iPad just for getting that song in my mind! No, not really. I just hate you. ;)

I think it's legit (too legit to quit). The last time I spoke with Apple yesterday morning, I was stuck in Processing limbo. I've been stuck in Preparing for Shipment limbo since then. The Apple rep told me the same thing you were told. I am getting a bit nervous again, considering calling again when I get home from work. I know I'm probably safe, but I'm still nervous.

Your package most likely will be routed Ontario-Oakland-Fresno. If the package is sent standard overnight, then it will be due by 3PM.

Wow. So it will come from four hours South of me, travel three hours North of me, then back down those three hours to me? That seems really ridiculous lol! It better leave tonight then, haha.

CALL, every hour on the hour! :D

It's quite possible since Oakland is the west coast hub for FedEx.

Plus - The drivers lunch = 1hr, (4) 15min breaks = another hour, 30mins for them to look for the package while at your house, then 33 seconds to walk up to your house and throw it over your fence while your security cameras record.. :p

One would think that all of these Ipads that are sitting as "picked up" in PA, TN, CA etc would have to start to move later tonight (Wed) for Friday delivery right? They have to get from the regional hub to the local truck by 4-5am on Friday Morning for Friday delivery. That does take time. I would think we should start to see some movement tonight or tomorrow morning. BTW, my Ipad is in Middletown, PA and I'm in Cincinnati, OH.

This ^ is exactly my point.

Maybe they get a kick of us eager beavers posting on forums and they are actually moving but not updating the tracking info.

I did notice on mine (FEDEX) the estimated delivery time today changed from by 3pm to by 10pm. Make me a little worried as this is a business that will be closing at 5pm.

Oh come now! That is just overly cruel, but it honestly wouldn't surprise me. I know if I had the details on the logistics of this, or even just some more than I do, I would be looking at these forums for a laugh! ;)

Mine is still preparing to ship but I'm not worried yet. My iPad 2 got from China to my house in under 24 hours. I'm still impressed a year later!

Not necessarily. It could be Thursday night before they move, depending on whether it is being sent in to a nearby airport (could be later) or trucked (could be sooner). If these locations are fedex hubs, they have already completed half their journey, so to speak, as nomally a package can be overnighted from the shipping location to one of these hubs and then on to the final destination ... usually in about 12 hours or less.

Apple gave FedEx permission to deliver later into the day than 3 o'clock. I called them today, and was told this. Businesses get priority, I wouldn't worry about it.

One would hope that they update their tracking then in close to realtime. I have noticed that is not always the case.

Otherwise there are going to be a lot of crabby people talking in these forums on Friday morning whining about how their Ipad is never going to arrive because they are still in "picked up" mode.

I for one have trust in the system, and trust that Fed Ex can handle and will deliver on Friday as promised!

My tracking number is stuck on pickup, does anyone have this issue?

Businesses better get priority; I don't want to have to sit and wait in an empty building for hours after closing. That would not be ideal.

All I know is that no matter how much I want my iPad on Friday, I hope the UPS and Fedex drivers are being compensated well for the extra time they'll have to put in to get us our iDevices well into the evening (including not seeing their children put to bed nor having dinner with their families).

Just a thought.
