my tracking info finally updated and it is in nashville, tn like many others.
a little side note..
i ran into a family friend of mine today and he was driving a fedex truck. i haven't seen him in a while, so i had no idea he worked at fedex. i asked him if he always delivers to my town and he said yes. i then joked and said "i guess you'll be dropping off my iPad tomorrow" and he replied by stating that he "probably already has it". i was kinda surprised and asked if he was serious. he said that he already had a bunch of iPads in his truck, but was not delivering them until friday.

I have a FedEx question. If its shipping overnight standard, and it's currently not even in my city, when does it leave it's current location? I am only asking because I am curious. I am over four hours away from Ontario and its gonna leave tomorrow night and make it to me by Friday at 3pm? I assume it leaves Ontario, arrives here, gets scanned in and...do they change trucks? Then delivered. Doesn't that take time? I'm just thinking there are probably a decent amount of deliveries.

mine did the same thing. took about 5 hours from the time of my shipping notification email before my tracking would work.
My 3/8 order for a personalized white 32GB has been postponed to 20th ship. Apple send me an email asking me if I would like to opt for a replacement non-personalized iPad for a 16th delivery instead.
I opted for the 16th delivery. But my order page now says my non-personalized iPad is processing for a Apr 6th delivery. Ouch!
Guys, if you have engraved iPads still on Preparing for Shipment, keep an eye on your email inbox. Apple just gave me 30 minutes to make that decision by email.
wth apple had to replace mine and my replacement wont be here till april 6th hah. i preordered on the 7th too. there is no rhyme or reason to this.
maybe you will get it on the 16th, but apple told me it says the 6th of april, but it is priority and will be bumped up. but they never said the 16th for me. just "we will do our best to get it to you on the 16th"

That's funny. Your iPad was going around and someone reminded them "deliver this later". Then it went through the next stage and someone repeated "no seriously, don't deliver this yet". And then it was on the way to your doorstep and someone had to repeat "DUDE! Don't deliver that!!!" One more mishap and it could be at your doorstep already.
10pm is pretty late. I would pick it up at a nearby FedEx spot if I had time. Mine still says 3pm luckily.
While I'm glad I'm not standing in line on Friday, my Fedex Nashville tracking information just showed that my estimated delivery on Friday has changed from 3:00pm to 10:00pm. Doesn't that seem late for an Overnight delivery?

It's not the exact time it's delivery but rather, by what time it will be delivered. You'll probably still get it before 10.
It's late, but I think they are getting crushed.
That's a bummer. Maybe if your order something tomorrow or have someone ship you something else via FedEx with a 10am Friday morning delivery your iPad will arrive with it. Not sure if it will work or not, but I'm thinking of doing that.
I did call again before I read this response. Thanks for the offer. They still insist the iPad is on its way. No offer to send a replacement BUT....they are sending me a complimentary Philips docking station. Dang.
Just hope it really is a case of overload/holding and not lost. Not gonna be happy if that happens...
I work for FedEx. What is the closest big city near you? There are numerous ways for the package to get from ONT to your city/town.
Mines in PA as well in "pick up" status. Says it'll be delivered before 3:00pm on the 16th
My second pre-order with pickup option (as my insurance) is ready for pick up on 16th! My first one is still preparing, but hopefully it ships today... Both orders made in 7th.
i guess my csr was super legit, they didnt have a problem sending mine to the shipping investigation team. then about 12 hours later they sent me an email saying they replaced it but my original still might be in friday.
i'll keep my fingures crossed for the both of us.

Preordered The new iPad 64GB Black Wifi Engraved on 3/7/12 on the way to San Diego, California. Here's recent UPS tracking info. I'm just confused as to why from Alaska, it went to Kentucky? Why not go straight to California which I think it's closer to Alaska? I'm not worried it's just for me it doesn't make sense in the direction standpoint. Does anybody have a similar tracking info as mine where it left Kentucky already? What's the next point from there if my iPad is suppose to go to San Diego, California? Ontario, California? I can't wait!
Everything that UPS air freights, goes through their main Hub in Louisville.
Fedex, DHL, does the same thing, and ABX did it too, when they were around.
What's even more frustrating, is to live in one of these towns, just to have the hub loose it..... So close, but so far away.

Anchorage is a major stopping point for freight into and out of Asia. A huge amount of freight is brought in bound from Asia and is cleared by customs in Anchorage.

Still says deliver 3/16 but with the freebie I am worried. I had it shipped to my aunts house because I will be out of town visiting her this weekend. Hope it comes Friday. Anyone else have this model ship yet? Anyone else that ordered launch day still not show as shipped?
