I'm a bit perplexed that you can still order an iPad 3 for shipping on March 16...I was frantically refreshing and cursing earlier today because I assumed the first batch of preorders would sell out within a couple hours...but yet it's tonight, and there's still plenty available. Hmph...

Either means that their are actually plenty to fullfill all these orders or some of us are gonna wait longer than expected

Oh boy. Be sure to keep a close eye on your email confirmations. I inadvertently submitted two orders for 4 ipads total. Using the Apple Store iOS app I only had one order make it thru all the way to the confirmation screen. Prior to that I had an attempt that made it to the screen with the "Place Order" button, which I pressed & appeared to error out. Apparently not as I received two confirmation emails with different order numbers. Was easy enough to cancel the later one though.

I could be wrong but I just don't see that happening with this launch. Apple seems to have ramped it up or the demand is just not high since alot of people are (not tech geeks like us) probably satisfied with what they have.

I agree, the market installed base is set so the demand is not as widespread and crazy.

The citizenry in the past went from having no iPad to having one.

Now all the people that are iPad People have one.

So its a matter of upgrading. There is less immediacy.

Same thing happen to me.... how long did you wait for your email confirmations? I ordered at 2pm PST and still haven't seen an email.

I had this problem earlier in the day

When the order cam up it had 10 ATVS and 1 iPad total $1600  LOL

Called to confirm that there was only 1 order for each

Still no email confirmation 6 hours later though

I had a bunch of issues trying to put in a pre-order, both on the website and in the Apple Store app. But I finally got it to work all the way on the website. One order and one confirmation e-mail.

My orders were placed around 6pm EST, separated by about 20 mins -- confirmations came in at 8:20 and 8:50PM!

Preordered...

No confirmations...

Checking,checking,checking...

Hmm, by that logic, there should be no lines for iPhones, 5 years into its life, but sure enough, every year, the lines are longer and longer.

My guess is they really ramped up production this time around, not only to quiet the launch mayhem in the retail stores, but to squash the scalper market.

ordered my 32GB wifi at 6pm CST. Got the email a little after 9pm. Even with free shipping, it says delivery on the 16th. The rumor about building these since last November must have been true.

Ordered via app, incorrectly entered cc code but magically got confirmation number! No email received, amex not charged. Waited. Decided to cancel order, received cancelation email! Ordered again (entered correct cc code this time). No email received and Amex not charged.

Update: after about 3 hours finally received email!

Ordered a 16gb black wifi new iPad, so far it says 16th for delivery, Hopefully. This is my first iPad so am looking forward to getting it.

Question:

The order confirmation received from apple, is this the email that just says
"Thank you for your order" ... Lists the item, delivery estimate, and total price. Or does it actually say "Order Confirmation" in the subject line.. Mine reads: Thank you for your order in the subject line. I'm pretty sure this is my order confir. ... Just wanted to make sure... Thanks. :apple:

I received my confirmation email a few hours after my order, my order now says

"Preparing for Shipment:
We are preparing your item(s) to ship. While your order is being prepared, we are unable to modify your order details. Once your item ships, we will email you a Shipment Notification with complete order details."

I got an engraved model, white 16GB wifi.

That's the confirmation.

Yeah because a phone is the same level of necessity as a tablet...

Weird I have a memo on my debit card for 3 $1 charges from apple and another memo for $886. Which is odd considering my order totaled $986 64gb 4g and apple tv. I never sent the order more then once either I couldn't get in at all for a bit but first time I got in my order went thru

Order Success

After a couple of hours of false starts I was able to finally conclude my order for a White, 64g, 4G at about 3pm (CST). Received confirmation email from Apple :apple: at about 4:30pm... now the wait begins.
