It's pretty typical of Apple to ship based on the specs you ordered. At least loosely.
So a 32gb wifi only, may ship in a batch separately from 32gb wifi+4G. If you take note, most of the posts.
Last year, the Black, 32gb 3G was one of the last to ship. Drove us frickin' bonkers. Then, just like that.....we all started getting shipment notifications.
I'm sure this year will work out similar.

I am in NYC. Ordered a Black 32 gb at 4:01 pm eastern time on March 7. Still has a status of "Preparing to ship"

i wrote this on another thread, but.. I pre-ordered my iPad at about 530 PM EST a few hours after pre-orders started, and the status still says "preparing shipment" I guess I am on of the lucky ones that will get their iPad a couple weeks after March 16th I should have lurked the Apple store website and waited for pre-orders instead of watching the keynote when it was uploaded.. darn..
Why would you get it after the 16th? I got mine at nearly 6 PM EST and mine is "preparing for shipment"; but it also clearly says "Delivers March 16".
I got mine around 4 EST and mine still show 'preparing for shipment'; been like that since yesterday AM...
Still says "Delivers March 16" though!
I am in NY/Brooklyn and placed order (black wifi 16G) March 7 around 5pm. receive shipping notification email March 8 early morning.
Same as you also. Ordered around 6 pm EST. I'm in Cleveland. I was hoping I'd be one of the lucky ones to get a delivery on Thursday, as I'm going out of town on Friday morning. Doesn't look like it

In Chicago, ordered at 424p local time. My email just arrived with tracking number and says it has shipped.
Likely a FedEx advance ship mechanism however. I doubt it's actually shipped yet.

I too had hoped for an early delivery since I'm also going out of town around 11am on the 16th. Delivering to my office, so I may stop in and hope that it arrives with one of the 8am-10am deliveries and not one of the afternoon deliveries.
Wonder maybe I could call Fedex/UPS the day before and request that they place the package on one of the early trucks?

Mine has also changed to preparing for shipment to CO.

First time posting, long time lurking... I received my shipping confirmation on my Black 32GB Wifi Only this morning. Since I know you all want "proof or it didn't happen", see the attached thumbnail. (Hope it shows clearly)
The tracking status hasn't been updated yet on Fed Ex, so I'm figuring the shipping ticket was generated this morning and it will probably (hopefully) go out this evening. Right now, its supposed to still arrive on the 16th. I'm in Chicago.

I ordered around the same time 64gb black 4G. I am in Alabama and still in processing. I would not worry much unless Wednessday roles around and it is still processing.

I read something that said apple was working closely with its shipping partners to ensure a proper arrival date. (something to that effect). Unfortunately that translates into "Your iPad will be sitting at your local fedex hub an extra 3 days"
it'd be super awesome if you got yours on the 13th though!!!
Still prepared for shipment here . No matter if it's shipped today or tomorrow, the majority of us are going to end up getting them on the 16th.
