Mine shipped this early morning with Fedex but the tracking number is not active....Is that normal??

I ordered my 32GB VZW model at midnight last night and it's still showing processing (obviously).
I'm in the same boat, but my Smart Cover that arrived this morning still shows as out for delivery, so I think FedEx tracking is behind right now.
whats to stop anyone from picking it up at fedex/ups facility? when i had a new phone being sent from tmobile i was very eager as we all are now to get my new phone. When it popped up on tracking site that it arrived at the facility in chicago (i don't remember which one), i called them and they pulled the package for me so i could pick it up. i picked it up 2 hrs after my call. So i got the package a day earlier than it arrived. but who knows with the ipads...i'm sure the carriers will be flooded with the same requests and probably just say NO to avoid all the hassle.
as far as the engraving and ppl saying it may be engraved/shipped from US, i'm sure that these ipads are going straight from the assembly line, to automated engraving to automated packaging where they throw on shipping label to the dock. They premade an initial stock of as many basic models they could, but i'm sure those all went in first hour of ordering (non carrier models). So basically regarless if u're getting engraved or not, these things are just being split into two lines and packaged and all automated. Thats why there isn't such a delay for engraving. So these things are basically all just coming off the line like hotcakes straight on a plane. i personally can't wait to hear the sales figures for how many were sold presale. i'm gonna go with about 400,000.
anyway, still waiting for my preorder of 2 16gbwifi white to go from preparing to ship to shipped. Ordered approx 2:45 pm central time, before many that say they ordered later than me and their orders already shipped. maybe because i ordered two units vs one? anyone else order two same units that shipped already?

I ordered my AT&T white 64g iPad around 3:30 pm CST on March 7 and it is still processing. Will I still get it by the 16th?
Are you sure? Some folks have seen that, but it turned out to be their smart cover shipping seperately.
because i have the worst luck..something will go wrong and it will finally show up on my door next month..
If you get it then, it will be by error on the part of FedEx. My bet is that you'll see "Delivery Exception" on the FedEx website at some point before the 16th.
But...mistakes do happen. Keep your fingers crossed that FedEx will screw up.

I remember FedEx wouldn't deliver or let you pick up till the date. But if you get someone who doesn't care at the warehouse you are in luck.! just say your going on a trip or something.

I hear from a good source that your New iPad is being used to play "Words With Friends" by a dock hand in China and he won't pack it till he beats his buddies.. all 12 of them.

Mine just shipped from Middletown, Pennsylvania via Fedex overnight! Unfortunately, it's marked as "Future Delivery Requested" and estimated for March 16 by 3:00pm. It's only one state away
Edit: My extra power adapter I ordered too just shipped. But it's coming directly from the factory in China..it's sitting in Hong Kong at the moment. lol - odd that the accessories are coming from over there and the iPads are here.

Maybe this is old news, but ALL units in USA are now showing a ship by date of March 19th. No more available for March 16th delivery(except line up at stores)?
Maybe more of a shipping/logistics problem than an inventory problem?
