I just got excited by an email from Apple that said, "Your order has shipped."
...it was the Smart Cover. What a bunch of teases.

I got shipment confirmation email and text from apple with a delivery date of on or before the 13.03.2012.. I have been unable to track this tho as the courier is TNT..pre-ordered at midnight after launch - 32GB Blk 4G + wifi..I hope i get it early though as per delivery email
Anyone's that have to be engraved have to come from China as the engraving has to be done before they're packaged up. That's the downside of it as it means you may have to wait longer.
Mine's still 'processing' too. 64 black AT&T. Curious thing, when I first ordered they put a hold on my debit card for the charge. I just checked and the hold is gone. Do you know if that's normal? I'm thinking about calling.
yes, that is normal. When you order, the system automatically places a hold on the funds for availability. However it's not the actual charge. This hold usually disappears within two days depending on the banking institution. Apple will actually charge your card once shipped - but that may or may not show up on your card detail until the funds actually post as debited from your account.
Don't worry..this is the same funds process for the launch of the prior two ipads. Been there for both
Mine shipped, but it has a Hold for delivery on it, so it will only deliver on the 16th. Also, it's standard overnight by FedEx.
Both of my engraved Verizon 64gb iPads have made it all the way to Kentucky, on their way to me in Michigan via UPS. I don't expect them till Friday though, much faster than last years iPad two.

My 32gb black 4g has shipped got the FedEx notice via Apple yesterday. Click the link and typical "not found" comes up. Delivery date says Mar. 16th though.

Mine "originated" in Middletown Pa. I don't understand why Apple did it that way last year unless they had to rush the release for some reason and didn't have time to ship them out to the transit points first.

Mine shipped yesterday says to expect it tomorrow Apparently its in Hinckly at the moment. I did very well with the i7 iMac too. Apple must like me

Apple must like me I've been checking the status on the location of my shipped iPAD and it arrived in Louisville, KY this morning at 11:26 am. I'm in Atlanta so I am hoping for an early delivery..KY is really not far enough to take 5 whole days right!
UPS should arrive early this week.
From China-to Alaska-to Kentucky-hoping the next stop is GA....Really excited!
Edited: I thought Louisville was CTZ but it is ETZ so I don't understand how they have it arriving at 11:26 on 3/11...perhaps they meant 10:26am.....

I know the iPad isn't getting delivered to me until the 16th... but yet I keep checking the tracking to see if anythings changed.

I received an email from Apple that said my ipad had shipped on the 9th. However, Fedex picked it up yesterday. Standard overnight shipping to be delivered before 3pm on Friday the 16th.

FedEx and UPS no longer just ship items but actually stores and often times manages the products themselves. They are in fact contracted by many companies to do the housing and releasing of products. Some phone carriers for example outsource their phones to FedEx and UPS that UPS and FedEx does the activation of the phones prior to releasing.
