2 of 3 models on JohnLewis.com are out of stock and have been for the last week or two…

Amazon.co.uk appear to have limited stock, too. I also noted the influx of refurb units on Apple.com.

I wonder what is up. I wish we could request the rumour-mongers look into this for us; it seems their attention is forever on iPhone these days : /

Something is almost certainly happening

The base Mac Mini has been available for immediate dispatch for weeks now, in the UK refurb store.
For the past couple of years they only appear every so often, and sell out right away.

Obviously there's a new Mac mini coming, right away - definitely, for sure.

The signs are there, just as they were three and a half years ago. Something is almost certainly happening……. The new Mac Mini is almost certainly coming, sooner or later.

Hi,

i work in an Apple Reseller and like many of you i'm waiting for the mini 2013 refresh.

From monday the two major Apple suppliers in Italy are suddenly and completely out of stock of minis. I know that this happen from time to time, but the timing is no coincidence.

Trust me, a new mini is coming next week, or at least we have solid evidence to believe it.

Huh? The refurb base model is ALWAYS available in Canada. They can't give those things away up here.

So this thread conjured up memories of high school in the early 90s and watching a show called Jack Van Impe Presents. Ok, I admit to watching that. Anyway, on the show they were always talking about the upcoming Rapture ... the Rapture is almost certainly coming! They probably still go on and on like that to this day.

Signs of the end times alright ... end of the Mini.
System76 Meerkat is certainly coming!

The new Mac Mini is almost certainly coming before the rapture.

I often wonder when this thread finally closes presuming the mMacPro replaces the Mini - where we'll meet again and how long it will be before we find ourselves boxed-in again in another thread such as this 5 years or so down the road.

I'll say this ... when I was a G5 user I came to the forum for a specific fix and was gone as fast I came - back to moving forward in 2-3 posts and never feeling threatened with extinction - built a custom rack enclosure for the G5 - thought I was building a workhorse for the future - then the Trashcan arrived - I was done!

Then I bought the Mini and joined this thread ...

Projecting forward - I would expect the next meeting in the next thread to be our last.

I must admit it's interesting that what appears to be the entire range of the 2014-released Mini is available in the refurb store.

Perhaps it means there's a high failure rate on the 2014 Mini, or unhappy buyers are returning them? ;)

But, seriously, a year ago I was in the market for a Mini and there was a nice selection of all kinds in the refurb store. I ended up getting a 2012 quad server from MacSales though and am glad I did. Also bought a new base 2014 Mini last summer for an iTunes server.

Come Fall should Apple not make a clear pathway forward in the headless desktop area in the $1200 - $2700 price point there will many more showing up on Ebay.

I'll hold on to the ecosystem for core duties but since I don't indulge in Apple content I'm investigating the move to a NUC for the home theater and automation - I figure this way both architectures can co-exist until one dominates over time - playin' the game so-to-speak.

I just bought a mid-level Mac mini…:D

It's a lovely little machine, and with its pizza-box esque profile feels a little bit like a spiritual successor to the Performa 475 that was our family's first Mac.

It's hopefully going to do the job I bought it for (hosting a 'definitive' local copy of my Photos library, so I can finally activate iCloud Photo Library without concerns) admirably, and should a new Mac mini arrive soon, at least it'll be an upgrade path that can be traded up to.
