But its all y'all saying iOS is so bad because it doesn't support a mouse. I'm thinking its more likely iOS adds mouse support than osx adds touch support. Its obvious apple wants iOS to take over osx. Isn't it obvious that a Mac mini iOS device is the next stepping stone? From there you can put iOS into the MacBook-not-pro and then silo off the MacBook pros as actual pro devices on account of them still running osx. Does this make sense?

You said TVOS, not iOS...did you mean iOS?

For me, personally, I would like two new desktop computers - a revised Mac mini in the same chassis, outfitted with 28w 4-core Coffee Lake U-Series CPUs, Iris Plus 655, Thunderbolt 3, same ports and arrangement as the 2014 Mac mini. I would prefer the SO-DIMM slots be put back in, but I am fine with one 2.5" HDD bay and one PCIe slot for NVMe storage arrangement that the 2014 min currently uses.

I would then like a new Mac, simply called Mac, that is in a larger chassis, with better cooling that contains either a Core i5-8305G Processor with Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL graphics and a BTO option to the Core i7-8706G Processor with Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL graphics OR a choice between the Core i7-8750H/Radeon Pro 555x/655 and a BTO to the Core i7-8850H/Radeon Pro 560X/660 depending on AMD's release schedule, along with the usual goodies of two TB3 ports, 802.11ac/BT 5.0, 4 USB 3.0, HDMI 2.0 out (needs LSPCON), SDXC slot, Audio In/Out, 4K/5K support. The HDMI 2.0 port would be for VR development for those that need that.

However, if I was to get my wish and this actually became reality, I want them running macOS, not iOS, nothing else but macOS Mojave.

I bet you jailbreak your iPhone too, right? LOL!

Last night I was unable to sleep. Because my brain would not stop thinking about this question: "Which is more important, Emojis or Watch Band Colors?" There was just no way I could wrap my head around such a complex problem!
Sounds like you are an excellent candidate for the new Apple Headband:):apple:

Its pretty clear apple doesn't want to release any more macOS hardware. Seems that the only 2 things on the menu are iOS Mac mini or no new Mac mini.

Oh yes, that is a must have!

Just received an extensive survey from Apple about the Mac mini. This confirms that new Mac mini is almost certainly coming. And soon.
Or, maybe it means that the survey, which was supposed to go out 3 years ago, was accidentally sent when they were actually instructed to put it in the trash folder. Because the new mini is never coming. Ever.

I have details on the October Surprise from an unimpeachable source hiding in Redmond: a fashion-updated iMac Pro (your choice of emoji on the "chin" in place of the Apple logo), an even thinner MacBook Pro with one (virtual) port and two touch bars (one for showing marching emojis), and an ATV repackaged in the no-longer-needed Mac Mini cases left over from the 2014 debacle soldered shut for your protection. The keynote speech will be given by a holographic Daffy Duck (or was that holistic?).

I think we're all getting punch-drunk from the waiting.

No, I made it clear in the comments section that I expected it to be released soon. So the new Mac mini is almost certainly coming.

That's weird; I just replaced a dying HD in a 2014 mini with an SSD at my office the other day. Took about 20 minutes.

But the point is it's not officially supported.

Tuesday's gone.*
Announcement should be this week, or next week at latest.

-----
*I had no idea Phish covered this song.

Given that the Q4 results call is on a Thursday this year (November 1), we could be seeing the hardware event as late as Tuesday 30th. This fits with the normal practice of Apple leaving it quite late in October for the hardware release and it's unheard of for Apple to put events on in November (so forget a November 5 date).

Therefore we're accepting that Apple will have *some* sales in the current quarter but how near?

We only have to wait for news of the invites to world Mac press to get the hype started properly. And the lead time of invites lets us narrow things down.

We can rule out Tuesday October 9 unless it's a press release update because it's too short notice for the event.

October 16 is a happy medium date, it gives a week for first impressions and column inches from the Mac press before they turn their attention to the Q4 results call on November 1 (little over 2 weeks later). We would probably hear about a full event within the week (as invites go out).

We may see invites go out as late as October 23 for an event on the 30th. That's under 3 weeks to go at the outside but the two events would be just a couple of days apart but not unheard of. ;)

An Apple keynote is almost certainly coming.

I hope we hear about both the Mac mini and the MacBook Air/so-called low-cost MacBook Air replacement.

since I will be moving on and going windows and linux . I started looking at a tablet for replacing my iPad mini 3. I found a Huawei Mediapad M5 8.4 inches ordered it for 300 on sale at newegg and I am now using it. So far I like it . Its sad that apple and I don't have the same needs. I now own 3 samsung phones no iPhones
I own the Huawei tablet. About a dozen pcs and a few mac minis 2012 and 2014. I am typing on a base 2014 with 4gb ram and an external 4tb boot drive.

Guess the new Mac Mini ain’t coming... It’s all about the iPhone, watch bands, and those dumb emojis...
Maybe the new “mini” will merely be a glorified docking station for an iPhone?! Best of both worlds - even more iPhones sold and the folks shouting for a new desktop get some breadcrumbs that should shut ‘em up for another year or two ...

Not me. A docking iPhone ain't even close to what a desktop computer can do.
