My guess is if they would make 2 different model sizes then they could please more people, but we all know that isn't going to happen.

If Apple wants world domination like I imagine they do, they need a 3.5" phone, a 4.5" phone, and a blackberry imitation like the Droid Pro to get most people. To have all the important form factors they can add a 4", a 5", and a slide out landscape keyboard phone. Personally I want the largest phone that doesn't look stupid. I've never seen a 5" screened phone like the Dell Streak in person so I don't know I'd feel. I'm guessing 4.5" would be enough.

I'm guessing they do go bigger next year. Too many people want it to just say screw you guys. Gingerbread is going to make Android even more competitive going forward. They have to keep the 3.5 because people with smaller hands felt like the EVO and the Droid X were too big. They make millions of phones a month. Surely they can afford them in 2 sizes at the minimum.

Somehow, I doubt this.

You don't think some other company will do their best to compete against the Retina Display? If the screen is bigger and has something similar to/better than RD why wouldn't I think twice about it?

To all of those wanting 3d similar to the Nintendo 3DS onto the new iPhone, if you watched Nintendo's E3 conference, they said that they tried to make the bottom (touch screen) 3d as well, but the fingerprints were screwing with it and it wasnt working to its full potential so thats why only the top screen (non touch screen) has 3d. Now this could have just been an excuse so that people didnt get upset that only one screen was 3d, but if you thing about it, it kind of makes sense. Any smudges could mess with the 3d and not give it a very good 3d effect. Anyway, its just something to think about for all of those wanting a 3d iPhone...

They keep pushing the phone to be thiner, but I don't care about thickness. I care about durability and battery life. Also, something needs to be done in the physical design of the phone to protect it from water damage. There could easily be a gate on the phone.

While content with my iPhone 4, as a true apple fan im always looking towards the future. I'll start by listing what I'd like to see in the upcoming smart phone.

• 64GB flash memory Capacity
• Of course, an insulated antenna
• 8MP Camera
• 1200p HD video recording?
• Improved digital zoom
• An metal back akin to the iPad (perhaps it could be made by Liquid metals boasted super dense, ultra thin formula?)
• Upgraded Front facing camera perhaps to 3MP
• Offline FM Radio native application (5th and 6th Gen Nano style)
• 4G network compatible
• Ability to be a Wifi Hotspot
• Full landscape orientation (for example when you turn an iPad sideways, all the apps rotate.
• Folders within folders?
• Option to close all running applications at once (iOS 4 users can agree with me)
• Faster processor (about 1.23GHz is the rumored power)

That's all I can think of, but perhaps you have more ideas or disagree with mine?

I'm not too fond of threads that suggest Android style software in my beloved apple products, and so I decided to start my own.

a smartphone is a smartphone.

it can have

new'er - memory, camera, screen, processor, software and case.

take a stab lol, im sure some buttmunch can come up with somthing ive missed x

Why?

The 960x640 resolution is the one and only feature that no other smartphone matches or outclasses. It's the killer feature for the iPhone as far as hardware is concerned. (The app store is it's software killer feature).

In my expert opinion:

80% of the things in this list will not be features of the iPhone 5.

That statistic is completely 100% accurate.

I really hope Apple sees this.

Some of these are REALLY good suggestions!!

If a quarter of them were to be in the iPhone, i would be so happy.

There should be a mod store because every year there will be advances on Android and for jailbroken phones. They can set standards to keep the quality high, but to me feeling like the iphone is catching up will be the largest disadvantage of being an iphone user until they fix it.

There are some things like the 3d screen that I don't think enough people care about for Apple to work on. I'm hoping to see more iphone peripherals that you can snap on. If people want more megapixels or better focus, more precise GPS, night vision photos, a 3d experience. It would be better for the whole world to have things that can be added on to the iphone than to have the iphone do everything on earth or buy separate devices for every task.
For the ipad I think there should be e-ink snap ons.

There should be a dedicated camera button. You should be able to grab your phone and take a picture just as quickly as possible without doing it accidentally. There have been several occasions where I wanted to grab a picture of something that happened so fast that by the time I got the camera app open, it was over. I hate it every time.

It should at least be water resistant. The Motorola Defy is a nice half step.

The real goal should be a phone that you can drop in a bucket of water for some minutes with no damage to the phone.
