Many of you are saying that they can not install a rear facing camera because they simply don't have the space but you seem to be forgetting that
has put a standard resolution camera on their iPod Nano(6.2mm) which is in fact thinner than the iPod touch(8.5mm) and they put it on one of the thinnest edges of the device. I'm POSITIVE that can at least put a 3.2 MP camera in the top center of their device without having too many complications, especially considering that they can fit a 5 MP camera in the iPhone 4 which is only .8 mm thicker than the ipod touch. as for facetime, although it would be convenient, i don't think it's necessary but i'm sure is considering it. And i really hope that apple updates the $199 iPod touch to 16gb. It was so stupid, cheap and selfish that they only made it 8 gb when the the rest are 32gb and 64gb. and As for the retina display, they BETTER intall it into the ipod touch because it would be EXTREMELY stupid if they don't

lol no it isn't a terrible thing to want a 16GB 4G Touch, he's agreeing with you that it would be nice if they were available at $199 because it might not happen

you think ??? it`ll be amazing if it was like the iphone 4 but thinner and without the phone and some other features like gyroscope

The way I see it, this upgrade HAS TO include something worthwhile (camera, retina, et c). The market has become saturated with iPod touch 2G users. I know many people that will upgrade if and only if the 4G has a camera. I'm included in that group.
With that in mind, the 4G is a HUGE sale opportunity for Apple. If this thing doesn't have a camera, Apple can say goodbye to tons of people wanting an upgrade from their 2G (Refurb 3G, anyone?).
So, if they don't have a camera, a huge market will be lost. If they DO have a camera, it will stop about three people from buying the iP4. There's gonna be a camera.

I'm so stressed too but I can't wait. When would be a good time to sell my touch? Not too soon but not too late...i`m so stressed about september i want a good device not like the other years

I have a iPod Touch 8GB 3rd Generation and I am looking to sell or trade it in for cash towards the upcoming 4th Generation iPod Touch.
Should I? The condition is brand new, the chrome has no scratches at all and the screen is looking new. The local Future Shop (Canadian version of Best Buy) is offering me 150 for it. Is it a good deal considering I bought this in March? Could 5 months take away 50 dollars even if it is in MINT condition?
Also, is selling it on eBay a good alternative? If it is, how is the experience? It will be my first time selling if I do decide to sell. Another question is, when is the best week to sell? 2 weeks prior to release? Even further?

Yep. I dont think they will have 249 for 32gb and 349 for 64gb.
Much thinner? Maybe a little bit but its most likely going to be somewhat thicker than the 3rd gen.

I dont think they will have a follow up for the 3rd gen.
Sell it soon. When they are confirmed/released they will decrease a lot.

Thanks for the advice, I did some price shopping on eBay and the average price for my model is around 180 - 185 CAD dollars. That means, if Steve Jobs is nice, I would have to dump an extra 20 - 30 dollars for it, that's alright... I suppose?
When should I sell it, we are almost near mid July, and the iPod event is always the 2nd or 3rd Tuesday of September... Does this mean I should sell it mid August? Another factor is that I have millions of accessories with it (6 cases, 3 spare screen protectors) so I sell that off too or keep them until iPod Touch 4 comes out to see if it is compatible?
Also, a camera, any megapixel or such, will get me to buy this sucker. I've been craving a camera since last year around this time

For me, it's the realization that if the iPhone got no increase, and still tops out at 32GB, it's highly doubtful the iPod Touch will get a memory boost that puts it at 4x the size of the largest iPhone.
If the iPhone got a 64GB bump, I think a lot more people could feasibly see a 128GB Touch on the horizon.
I also think the price structure would force them to price a 128GB in a totally new, more expensive price point.
Something like 16/32/64/128 priced at 199/299/399/499.
$499 is a wild amount to drop on an iPod.
Maybe 128GB for next year though.

Hmmmmmm....
If you want maximum value then you should probably sell it now, but you would have to deal with separation.
You might keep the screen protectors (like 2), and sell the cases because if it has a back camera then it wont be compatible.
You should probably wait until the confirmed design comes out though.
Im hoping on 199 4G 16GB ipod touch but im doubtful too.
Heres what i think might happen: 199 3G 16gb, 199 8GB 4G. Hopefully im wrong.

iPad is $499 for 8GB.
But if you want nice storage then get a classic.
I'm thinking about getting an 8GB if possible, and then getting something else for my music.
