Interesting thread. That will keep the interest untill the new Ipod touch is released, hopefully in september.

On features,I would like from the Iphone, the retina, processor, and RAM.I think, that if a camera is included it'll be the one from the 3GS in the back. Not sure about the front though.
That would still be a very worthy upgarde to me with those features(even with no cams).I hope there will be a 16GB 4th generation, but I doubt it.More than likely same format as last year except maybe for a 16 instead of the 8.
32 and 64 would be 4th gen.16(instead of 8) would be 3rd gen.

One feature nobody seemed to have talked about is audio quality.I would really like Apple to improve the audio chip they're using in their devices.

Time will tell, but time isn't going fast enough...:(

If they dont have a 4G for $199/$249, i will be so . I would rather have a 16GB, but will settle for an 8GB.

You mean like the A4 chip? I think that will be included if thats what you mean.

The only thing I know is if they want to make the most money it would be in Apple's best interest to release a huge touch update this September. I am assuming they are going to want most current touch owners to salivate over this device and want it like none other especially those who have the 8GB 2nd/3rd gen touch. They have to give enough incentive to update, if they only include minimal features like upgraded display, upgraded ram and gyro then the current touch owners won't have any incentive to update and they will lose money cause people won't upgrade.

For cases I hope they take the same design as the iPhone 4 and apply it to the iPod touch 4 because then touch buyers would have a large selection of cases available right at the start.

What i said. If they make it bigger than the need to for cases, then it should be cheaper.

If Steve Jobs doesn't offer us a low-end 4th generation with all new features, I will be so mad.... like  but 100 000 000 shades redder... :p

On a serious note, I have decided to sell my current iPod Touch. Maybe on kijiji or Facebook...

Kijiji? What about eBay?

Apple never raised prices (Mac Mini is one exception) and probably never will. There is no reason why Apple would turn away budget customers just because they want to "make the iPod Touch line more unified".

The Mac mini raised in price twice (over the course of two generations).
The macbook pro also saw a price hike on the low end (the high end dropped, so the median price stayed the same) arguably to bring a more unified line. It is not impossible that the same will happen to touch line on a smaller scale.

I don't like eBay. They charge you many fees and they require you to ship the product. Kijiji offers cash exchange and the process is MUCH more easier to handle for a 16 year old kid ;)

You cant have an eBay account until your 18. eBay fees arent bad. About a dollar for listing fees and 9% of the final value if its an auction. Its more popular too.

I use my dads eBay account. Its much easier for a 13 year old. ;)

DONT JUDGE ME FOR MY AGE!!!

But in Canada, Kijiji is like eBay of Canada. Some people still prefer Amazon and eBay, but not as much people from the North.

Ew, pipsqueak ;) I'm joking :)

So like, ARGH, the guessing and waiting in un bearable :(

No,I don't mean the A4 chip as this is the processor.I mean the actual audio chip.I really think Apple could do better in that area(like Cowon or Samsung). If the Ipod touch could sound as good as those that would be amazing. But the touch has such an advantage in everything else that I'm ready to sacrifice the audio quality for the rest.

I really don't think it's realistic to think a 4G will come in a small and cheap configuration...my guess is it'll start at 32 for $299 like the 3rd gen.Especially if the include retina,A4,RAM and Gyro. That would make me more than happy.

but the price.

but the price.

I don't think they'll put that much more stuff and keep the same price.I would be happy to have a $299 price for the 32,but I'm affraid that would mean less features.A 32 iPhone 4 unlocked is probably going to be $699 or something...quite a difference.

I'm just hoping for retina,gyro,A4 and more RAM.If those things make it and the price remains the same it'll be an amazing upgrade. But I think I'll keep my expectations low not to be too disapointed.

No wonder I've never heard of it. ;)

 jk.

This, but like x1000.
Same here.

I think the audio quality is more up to the earphones, but i guess the device helps too. ;)

Im hoping for a 229 or 249.

same 'ere

don't care, personally since my parents are willing to buy it for me when my birthday comes in october :D

Lucky....

They most definitely should have a 4G under $249, dont care how many GB's.

I sold my 32GB 3rd gen in 1 day on Kijiji.Got $200 for it,pretty happy about it.Now bring on the next one before I go nuts!!!

Yea, that is a bit low... maybe 230 or 240 if it's in mint condition.

BTW, I measure with my own ruler and the thickness of the iPod touch 2G/3G is exactly 8.5mm from bottom to top. How much is the iPhone 4 camera again?

I suppose I could have gotten more, but with the newer one coming soon I felt it wasn't that bad. It'll help with the new one :)
I guess.

What i was thinking.

Hmmm.... No idea.

+1, theres no profit in it so they think its not much of a point (disbelievers).

All Macs come with webcams built-in yet Apple hasn't established a business plan incorporating the webcam. If they want iPods/iPhones/iPads to become real computers, they will add a FaceTime cam just because it is an important feature.

It may be hard for you to imagine, but some people do have those storage needs, and some of them may want a Touch and not a Classic.

Personally, I am in the process of ripping, collecting, finding every bit of music from my life that I've liked, listened to, etc. I'm up to over 50GB of music. Even if I had a 64GB Touch, I'd be on the borderline of pushing it right now. The Classic works for me as a music jukebox workhorse though.

True, but the Touch is a device that can be used for the purchasing of other media. The Classic's only purpose is for the consumption of that media. Maybe it's just me, but I still buy a lot of music and other stuff from my Touch because it's really easy. Everyone who I know who has a lot of media, like 50+ GB, all get a Classic, and not a 64 GB Touch.

Not until the second or third week of September.

Unless Steve Jobs pulls a fast one and makes it a "quiet upgrade" I doubt it ;)
