Apparently, Apple is really trying to unload their stock of iPod Touches. Comcast is giving an iPod Touch to new customers that sign up for certain levels of cable service. I assume it is the 8 GB models.

Well if the iPod touch 4th gen has a back camera that is able to snap photos as well as take videos, wouldn't it need a mic to get the audio for the video? The mic would be on the back though so that it would pick up the audio from the thing you are recording. Unless Apple adds one on the front also for facetime.
Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that a mic HAS to happen if a camera happens. Even if it is only a facetime camera (Which I would never use anyways).

Well, the iPod Touch 4G will actually be called iPod Touch 4 (Just like how the iPhone was called iPhone 4 instead of 4G).
It will have 3.2MPixel backside camera and support facetime with a front facing VGA camera.
The 128GB won't be released (at least not yet) in the first incarnations.

Actually it will continue to be called 'iPod touch'. iPods don't get extra words/letters after their model name.
Think about it realistically, after reading the whole of this thread, theres alot of bulls**t.
Think of it from Apples POV, they want to update everything, they want this to be the best portable media/gaming deivice ever. to do that, they'll throw in as much as possible.

Well i might as well add my expectations/likelyhood for the 4G iPod touch.
- Redesign
The iPod touch and iPhone typically mimics each other in upgrade process in terms of aesthetics i.e 1G-2G redesign 2G-3G same so i see 95% chance we will also see a redesign for 4G touch.
- Retina Display
I see a 50% chance this is included. it seems obvious because of the impact it has on apps and reading but so far no rumours (i know of) have talked about its inclusion.
- Front Camera
I see a 95% chance. There are strong rumours that iOS 4.1 includes Face Time on the ipod touch plans can change but it is looking very likely.
- Rear Camera
I see 80% for 3.2MP and 40% for 5MP. Part of Face Time's functionality is using the rear and there also been alot of rumours stating its going to be in.
- Gyroscope
100%. Alot of apps are going to be based on this and it never seemed to be marketed as a premium feature anyway.
- A4 Chip
I see a 100% chance its included. Cant think of any reason why it wont.
- 512MB RAM
Same as above.
- GSM/3G Sim option
1%. Cant see this happening at all.
- GPS
Same as above.
- Compass
1%. would be pretty useless if we only have wifi.
- FM transmitter
25%. Its not something that matters to me, should be added though but i can see it as something apple wants to keep exclusively on the nano.

Well, theyre losing about $20 a month if they do that, so thats $480 over the two years.
Redisign would be very nice. I really think they should include an FM transmitter, the Zune HD has one. No compass, no GPS, no 3G data, and there should be a retina because most apps (like the gyroscope) are compatible.

Plus the manufacturers of the parts (to an extent), we know that it will have facetime because it has a front camera, which means, it should have a back one to complete facetime.
Just because it has a front facing camera doesnt mean it has to have a back one, they may create a scaled down version of facetime for the touch.

I never said that. I said it need to have a back camera to COMPLETE facetime, i never said it wouldnt be facetime without a back camera.Just because it has a front facing camera doesnt mean it has to have a back one, they may create a scaled down version of facetime for the touch.
If there is a 3G option, which i doubt, there should be GPS.i put my percentile next to your ideas!
I dont think a 8GB/16GB will happen for the 4G....
That might be the lineup for 2010 but the baseline will either be a 3G or have alot less features. Keep the same price tags, retina obviously because most apps are already compatible. A redesign is obvious, i would prefer the glass over the aluminum; just looks nicer, but it might be too expensive. 512MB of RAM would be nice, A4 is going to be in there, gryoscope will, again, alot of apps are compatible, a bigger battery would be very nice, a better speaker would be nice, if they will include Facetime (which they will) it will (almost) need a built in mic and two cameras should be there for Facetime, front one guranteed. I thought it already had 802.1n wifi. If not then it needs it.
It should be shipped with 4.0.1. Is 4.0.1 really just iOS4 except completely compatible with the iPhone 3G/3GS? Does it have full compatibility with the iPod Touch 2G/3G?
