I use my cell phone (the Canadian equivalent of a T-Mobile Tap) once in a blue moon, but back when I had an iPod Touch, I used it every day multiple times. Phone is just one of the functions of an iPhone.

Im sure they like the convience of a phone and Touch combined, and they dont just use it for the data.

It will not have all the features that an actual 4G will have.

I'm going to bet apple will probably make a move like this, if only to force people to have a reason upgrade within a year or two when their hardware becomes antiquated. If they are really smart, though, they'll give the downgraded model the 4G body-type, if only to keep consistency between the models. Doing this will probably entice the general public to buy the downgraded model, thus ensuring they'll be forced to upgrade within a given amount of time.

I truuuuuuuly hope that apple will give us a 3G + WiFi option, if they do ill get one depending on the price

Why would they put a 3G option to the touch? The touch has VOIP calling, and text messaging apps, and if the touch had 3G prepay plans, they would be using the apps to call and text people over 3G which would dramatically cut into the sales of the iPhone 4.

Anyway, what do y'all think our chances are of getting a built in mic? I think that for FaceTime to work better, Apple should give us one.

Thus, P(FaceTime) ≈ P(Built in microphone), more or less. I give FaceTime an 88% chance, and I'll give the mic an 83% chance.

Anyone's thoughts?

Well, if they give us a camera, then I think the built in microphone is a given. Apple can't be that stupid and think that their headphones would last.

They should know that their customers may want to use different kinds of headphones, and not all of them all going to have a microphone built into the headphones.

Yea, I want some Skull Candies but can't buy them because I use that stupid microphone too damn much!

If they have a camera with video capabilities we should get a mic.

Uhhmmmmm... Ok. Why dont you switch between the two?

They will sell more sound app's too. So I give it 75% chance. :)

What I am hoping for is a model between the 8GB and 32GB, presumably a 16GB with more features than an 8GB but less than a 32GB model, for a lower price at $229-$249

It won't have all the features a 32GB or 64GB will have... An the admins delete everything ! :'(
Like? Theyre just doing their job if we get off-topic.

As nice as that would be, im going to have to doubt it. :'(
That sounds reasonable
^^^^ :'(

I know it may not happen, but an 8GB can't be exactly the same as a 3G 32GB, it has to have some new features but less than the top of the line 32GB and and 64GB.

Yes. I am thinking a camera, (retina) and gyroscope.

I don't see Apple doing this. Base model will be $199. Apple has decided this is an important price point to hit. 4th gen models with all the bells & whistles will be $299 and 399, with no models in between. One of the hallmarks of the Apple under Steve Jobs is a streamlined product offering, without all kinds of extraneous models.

I wouldn't be surprised if the base model is 16GB, however (no 8GB model). 50/50 it will either be 8 or 16.

Camera? Not unless the device gets thicker. Apple doesn't like thicker.
Multitasking-guaranteed it's in 4.0
Better res? Likely
Folders- guaranteed in 4.0
Change springboard- guaranteed in 4.0
16gb seems like a step backwards.

it can have the camera without getting thicker. ipod touch 3g had a camera but was pulled by jobs at the last minute.

Agreed. Unfortunately. :sigh:
But we don't know what type of camera that was. It might have only been a 2MP.
Yes. But that still leaves some room, however much.
