hi guys
newbie here! isn't it obvious? but let me tell you that the excitement here is like that of a superbowl or a super tuesday! ha ha ha!
i'm patiently/ eagerly waiting as well for the MBP 08, it will be my first mac ever!!
i've been using both platforms anyway, and when windows released VISTA, they converted me to the "Bright" side!
let's hope they releaser something tom!
for now.. we wait!

Welcome!
On this thread where the excitement and anxiety are tangible, the more the merrier!

Everyone should not get disenfranchised if the MBP does not come out tomorrow. I think there is a lot higher chance we won't see it until the 26th with an iPhone SDK event. When they didn’t announce it at Macworld I immediately thought oh, well they will probably announce it in late Feb with the iPhone SDK. That is shaping up to be a pretty likely scenario. So yes tomorrow would be nice, but a one more thing on the 26th wouldn’t be too bad either.

Yes I think you're right!

Apple better release their new MBP tomorrow. Apple placed an order of a replacement MBP last Tuesday and has yet to ship it. It was a stock model. So that shouldn't have taken too long to ship.

Strange...

Out of curiosity, why the excitement for the 10.5.2? 10.5.1 is pretty solid; at least as solid as the latest 10.4. No issues to speak of on a 17" MBP...

Time Machine is a bit of a mare - but I agree, not sure about the reason for all the excitement. 10.4 had eleven updates. I hope MR members don't get excited over ALL the future Leopard updates!!

I agree we would be seeing leaks and hints based on new MBPs by now if they were to be released tomorrow. I believe the last Tuesday of February is probably going to be the MBP launch.

You know, we didn't really see solid rumors of the upgraded iPhone and iPod Touch. Engadget had it pegged, but not this early on.

True... I didn't even expect the 10.5.2 release today before I posted that...

Anything can happen. I am putting a small ante up for tomorrow in a release.

It's possible Apple will make an announcement tomorrow with shipments to follow in a few days, although (and correct me if I'm wrong) that would be a change from the usual "silent" updates. That would be a good thing though.

What's an iphone 'SDK'?

Just wondering whether its bigger than a MBP revision and will be the prominent reason for the event on the 26th

SDK stands for Software Development Kit. It's a kit for programmers who want to develop software to run on the iPhone.

(afaik)

Lets get this thread cranking people :D

From now on, this thread will be quite active I imagine with all the buzz and excitement during the expected update period of the Apple Site.

So I will be asleep most likely :) as I just got home from a long night of work!

but I will be praying in my sleep for an update!

Best of luck from Australia!

COME ON STEVE! MAKE US PROUD!

*I will dream about waking up to a nicely updated AppleSite!

I do believe Apple released 10.5.2 the day before Tuesday, just so it would all work towards the update of the MBP tomorrow. Why wouldn't Apple release 10.5.2 tomorrow, why did they do it today?

Remember that 10.5.2 includes the MacBook Pro 4,1 identifier (current MBP is 3,1) somewhere.

I doubt Apple would release the update to the whole world with this identifier in it, without releasing the new MBP VERY soon after...

What are your thoughts on processor specs for the new models; will the T9500 and T9300 be the stars of the show, or will the lower end MPB get a T8300?

But keep in mind that presumably the new MBP's would need 10.5.2 preinstalled.

So, has Apple has been sitting on a finished 10.5.2 for a week or two while getting the new MBPs with 10.5.2 into the retail channel? I sure hope so. Otherwise, it's probably going to be at least another week...

Could/would Apple announce the new MBP's with "in stores and shipping in 3weeks" or some other time frame?
