Ha! Good catch! I HIGHLY doubt that they are adding anything product wise. But please let me be wrong. Maybe some crazy thing happened where they just had to announce it right now.

The store is still down here in Canada. Are you saying it's back up there with no new products?

My hope is that we get at least some downtime on the store come Tuesday. I just love the sheer excitement of it all ... 
On the other hand: I'm going on holidays starting Feb 20th, little hope I'd get my hands on a new MBP before that, even if they update this Tuesday.
Still, it'd be nice to get the order in -- I'd love to be able to pick it up when I return.

Not sure what the best would be.
If it IS this Tuesday I think it would be a pretty minor update. Penryns and Trackpads... probably a silent update meaning the updates are in stores and shipping immediately.
If not tommorow then I'm guessing it would be at this rumored event on the 26th. If its the 26th, then the sky is the limit, especially if a MBP release is the main feature of the event. Maybe we get a case redesign with the MBA keyboard along with the other goodies. I'm kinda hoping for this because an extra two weeks of waiting would be well worth in my opinion. Given how long its been since the last release and the magnitude of the rumors surrounding a MBP release, I'm thinking a MBP release that will Blow us away on the 26th... if there really is an Apple event on the 26th.

My dilemma...
1) If it is this Tue the 12th: only minor updgrades: penryn speed increase, bigger hdd + some video bump, ala MBA trackpad and good prices. Maybe 10.5.2 also.
2) If it's not on the 12th...wait more...and more..
But the possibility to have a better
machine makes me think and wish that is better to wait a little bit more.
And some realistics/pessimists out there push the 2nd choice to June or the end of 2008....WHY??????

I really think the event at the end of the month is going to be focused on the SDK for iPhone/Touch. These devices are going to be the biggest drivers of growth for Apple going forward, and they will want the press to focus as much as possible on them for the event.
Releasing new MBPs that by and large look the same on the outside to most people (except us geeks) on the same day wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Better to separate the two events to get maximum press for each. New MBPs next week, let's go. And the 17" better have LED backlighting.

Ah...Tuesday is coming! Every Tuesday seems like ol' St. Nicholas's day morning to us wee little lads and lasses! Last Tuesday was a bucket-o-fun until the store went back online.
Although I'm planning to wait for Montevina in June, I look forward to the (hopefully very soon) Penryn update.
What I would most like to see is: Penryn chips of course (up to 2.8 GHz if possible), LED backlighting across the board, a better GPU, and hmmm, what about support for more RAM? I'm not too concerned about a multi-touch trackpad, but I wouldn't say no to one. I would say no to a MBA keyboard though. I know I'm probably in the minority on this one, but IMO the black keys next to aluminum finish looks too PC and unprofessional. All one color seems to do the trick. In addition I just like the keys close to each other and not separated "chiclet"-style.
As I am no seer, I cannot foretell a date, but this Tuesday would be as good as any, no?
