newbie here! isn't it obvious? but let me tell you that the excitement here is like that of a superbowl or a super tuesday! ha ha ha!
i'm patiently/ eagerly waiting as well for the MBP 08, it will be my first mac ever!!
i've been using both platforms anyway, and when windows released VISTA, they converted me to the "Bright" side!
let's hope they releaser something tom!

Any word on how other major manufacturers are doing with shipping their Penryn laptops (the 2.5 - 2.8 ghz variety, not the lower clock speed ones)?
I don't know if there are other factors that would delay a MBP release, but we can be sure they aren't releasing it until there are enough chips to go around.

Maybe. But the question is: will they have time to release a new MBP with 10.5.2 bundled tomorrow if the announce 10.5.2 also tomorrow?
My last mac was a Power PC 6200! Classic FTW!
If things go right, I'll be selling my laptop Friday. I REALLY hope they release the new mbp's tomorrow so I don't have to start school with the "older" model.

Just to add to the "excitement", anyone else notice the "New" is now missing on the main store page for the Mac Pro? Possible sign of another "New" item?
That "new" sign has actually been gone for a few weeks now. If you click on the Mac Pro (select it), at the top of the next page is the display of the Apple computers. Up there, you'll still see the "new" sign on the Mac Pro. Talk about confusing, right!
All I have to say is, I've made my decision that I'll wait until the end of February for the new MBP. If it doesn't come by then, I'm going to order a matte 15" 2.4GHz. It won't have the upgraded HDD that I want, but I'll sell it off when the new MBP comes out so that I can upgrade.
That's my plan and I'm sticking to it!
