if the new macbooks or macbook pros don't come out I think I might just settle for second best. OLPC....

NO. they better use the 8800GT, 112 Stream Processor vs 64 on the 9600GT, look at the benchmark here

9600GT is meant to compete with ATI in the low end market while the 8800GT (512MB) outperform the 8800GTS on every benchmark, AND it's pretty much on par with 8800GTX (768MB)

I don't anything that is hot and power hungry tho. As long as it's an update and doesn't burn my lap/ :D

Eh. hello!, they are comparing desktop cards out there.
those values do not apply to mobile versions of the chips.
Who knows how much apple will downclock them.

I am not with or against 8 or 9 series.
 
Let there come a new MBP today! Been waiting forever. But if they slash prices on iPhone/Touch I can survive another week or two waiting for the MBP.

Yes, I agree, those are numbers on the desktop models. But that's how the performance correlates when downsized to a mobile chip. Also, the 9600GT desktop model just been out for less then a month and I don't think the mobile version is in production for any laptop manufacturer.

As for the latest mobile GPU from nVidia this should be a good read while we are waiting for the MBP. :eek:

Is anyone extremely upset/dissapointed that the rumors say these are most likely going to be MacBooks? Do you guys think that these rumors are true? Or do you think we will see MBPs in a five hours?

Yea, but the prices being MBP prices seems a little weird if they're MBs.

I hope they release the most absurd stuff anyone could think of, like some kind of tea that tastes like sunshine, so people's heads all over the interweb will explode.
