Sorta glad she's leaving. the tone at my house is she's annoying. mum- "I don't like her mouth".

Saturday can't come any sooner :)

Here's a link to the character that Peter Kay plays.

I've also read rumours that in Army of Ghosts the Cybermen will wage war against the Daleks.
This might be fake

Peter Kay's on Jonathon Ross at the moment. might spill some beans about tomorrow night. might just talk about how unfunny he is these days.

I've heard the rumors too – can't say I'm exactly convinced by the picture, though... it just doesn't look right somehow. Still, Cybermen vs Daleks is an interesting prospect – although if they were to actually team up they'd be a hell of an adversary for the Doctor.

I think it might be a studio (well made to look like) picture with one of those light reflector umbrella thingamy's in the background, as for them teaming up they would be formidable and the Doctor would have to pull off an unfeasible save the day ending, so I think the only way to defeat them would be an act of God like a gigantic safe falling from the sky or maybe a Monty Pyhonesque foot to squish them.

A Cyberman/Dalek hookup would either be the Best Thing Ever™ or something along the lines of Alien vs Predator. :D
Oh come on, that film was absolute pants, I mean now that Daleks can ascend/descend stairs and Cybermen don't seem to be allergic to gold, jeez that's scary, Alien and Predator have nothing on these gargantuan baddies :p

No diasagreement from me on that point.

A bloody good job, given the new gold livery the Daleks are sporting. An old school Cyberman could be forgiven for taking one look at one of the new-style blingin' Daleks and doing a runner... :D

I dunno, I didn't think AvsP was that bad. Never seen an Alien or Predator film before mind you! Watched it at my aunts place when they went on holiday. seemed to be the only film my uncle had that could keep me awake at 2am. made worse by the fact the house is actually on the moors, the official scariest place on Earth.

He spoke a bit about Who. not much. Thought he made a good guest. though he really needs to make something as groundbreaking as Phoenix Nights again. I just fell in love with that show

Yes it would all be a bit pointless as you could imagine that within the first five minutes it would all be over :)

Alien was a great film, Aliens was awesome, the rest were ***** (IMHO), Predator was good, Predator II was ok (Danny Glover made it watch-able, my opinion again ;) )

Yeah I thought I'd missed it but hadn't, waited 'till he'd spoken about Who then switched over to watch the World Cup highlights, as for Phoenix Nights it was either hot or cold for me.

Love and Monsters, a strange but quite amusing episode and cheap too, not many special effects, they must of overspent on The Satan Pit :) , even though this episode didn't feature the Doctor much I still liked it, "where's Bliss" "you don't want to know" Haha, lots of Bad Wolf references and Torchwood and impending Doom Peter Kay wasn't bad in it either. Right I'm off to watch the World Cup down the pub.

Hmm... thoughts in the now traditional Saturday evening white text.

It started off quite a promising episode – I liked the idea of, rather than focussing on the Doctor, relegating him almost to a background character and instead concentrating on the people who are trying to find him. Then Peter Kay came along and, to be fair, wasn't that bad. But then...

What was up until then a reasonable episode fell apart when the Abzorbawhatever was revealed. For a start it didn't look very convincing, Kay went into complete ham mode, and his Bolton accent seemed really out of place (I know, lots of planets have a north, but still). Kay was initially playing the role (in human form) as a menacing type, but the switch to fat comedy northerner just didn't work. I couldn't help but think of John Prescott. I think the new Who has found it's Ken Dodd moment...

In all fairness, the episode did have its good points – some mildly amusing one liners, and like I say the initial premise of not focussing on the Doctor was an interesting one. And I must say I did think Ursula was kind of sweet in a geeky way  . But for me, the standout moment of this episode, the one that'll spring to mind when people mention Love & Monsters in years to come, is the sight of Peter Kay running along in a bad latex suit, waving his stick and going 'Raarrrr!' And that can't be a good thing.

All in all, I'm disappointed.

Totally agree with Jaffa Cake's perspective on the ep. I was laughing like a trooper at the beginning, but by the end I just wanted it to finish. I thought the ending with "the explanation" was especially poor.

Some nice comedy lines, but really not up to the standard I've come to expect.

I was having a beer while I watched it, it didn't help any I'm afraid. :D
Yeah but I was suffering from sunstroke, heatstroke and beerstroke, 'fraid I've had more than my quota of beer (damn/bless the World Cup) by the time Who finished and I had the bright idea of going out to the pub, USA! (they need a new chant) now I'm plastered, thank God for spell checking :D

Have to agree with everyone, this was the weakest episode of the season so far for me - I would even put "Idiot's Lantern" above it! ;) Perhaps I was somewhat spoiled by the previous 2 episodes, but regardless, I found this episode to fall short as well. An interesting concept, as Jaffa Cake said, of not focusing on the Doctor, but the whole story was just weird and weak in the end.

I give them points for originality, as no Doctor Who story EVER has been done like that (that I recall at least), however it's a shame they couldn't pull it off better. I, too, felt the ending a bit contrived and lacking.

I also can't say the preview for next week exciting me to much either. It seems like it might be in danger of rehashing themes which we've seen 3 or 4 times already in this season. Back on Earth, people disappearing, some alien force at play, etc. etc. That was one of the many things I loved about the previous 2 episodes - it was away from Earth in a truly alien environment - that's the way Doctor Who should be (and one of the reasons the Tom Baker years were my favorite).

At any rate, I guess they can't all be winners. I have set my expectations low for next week's episode, and will be looking forward the finale in a couple weeks.

I dunno...

I liked it. Not in a Satan Pit kinda way. But it was pleasant. I liked the break in the action. and the bit at the end "we have a bit of a love life" absolutely cracked me up! how on earth did they get away with that! with a concrete slab with a face sat on his lap. :D

Probably wouldn't watch it again though. and sorry to go back to the Satan Pit... but...

The Beast could read peoples minds right? he found their fears hidden away and tried to use them as a weapon. when Rose was Bad Wolf, didn't she say "I can see everything, the past the present the future". Maybe she foresaw her own death but didn't remember. and the Beast saw that locked away in a corner of her mind. hmms?

Was the failure of this ep (which considering all its mighty seems very difficult to compound into a single point) that they got children to design the monster? It was entirely constucted with a market audience of 8 year olds, and I found myself continually uninterested ... swept the floor and cleaned a couple of pans in the kitchen.:(

If I don't catch next week, then I won't be the most disappointed person on Earth. Kindovva rushed series writing-wise for my tastes.

Yeah, I'll give it that, it was a nice break, and a departure from the action, but I still didn't care for it. That was slightly humorous at the end though, yeah, I thought the same thing. ;)

Possibly, I guess we'll probably never know. It was neat to hear Torchwood mentioned again though, and how all information on Rose was wiped out by the Bad Wolf virus. Once again, what does this mean, exactly? What is "Bad Wolf"? I still don't have a definitive answer, so we better get one before Rose "dies" in the last episode...

whats with all the people vanishing? I think i mentioned this before. but it's getting really apparent now. There seems to be a running, dare I say, meme about aliens taking people and using them as weapons.

More cybermen related shenanigans I ponder? maybe this whole series has been a giant recruiting exercise.

It has definitely been a recurring theme of sorts throughout this season, with different variations. I guess we'll soon find out if it is due to some ingenious master plan which has been spanning the entire season, threading itself throughout different times and places, or if it is simply the end result of some lazy writing by the staff... ;)
