I'd like to search and find out, but I'm on a PC so I want limited interaction on this machine. but how many episodes are left now? are we damn sure there will be 13? no strange, unexpected 14th episode or out like that?

According to this, we've just three episodes left – a stand alone story and the end of series two-parter. No surprise 14th episode, it would appear.

This is correct - "Fear Her" this week, then "Army of Ghosts" and "Doomsday" as the 2-part season finale.

Sad, really, the season seems to have come and gone in a flash... :( Ah well, I have BSG Season 2 to get through this summer to tide me over for my sci-fi fix until the fall. (Then BSG Season 3 will start, followed by Doctor Who Season 29... ;))

Oh man you are in for a treat.

Oh yes, there's a three episode arc in the middle of the series that is the best sci-fi I've seen in years. That's all I'm going to say, other than you are going to really enjoy it.

Don't forget either we've got another Doctor Who Christmas special to tide us over before series 29. :)

Ah yes, almost forgot! That will be fun to watch as well. :)

And yes, I can't wait to watch Season 2 of BSG - it's all new to me! ;) :D I loved the miniseries and Season 1, especially the twist ending, and I guess I wanted to torture myself a bit before watching the resolution and Season 2 - I'm quite impressed with my restraint!

AnyWHO, back on topic.. ;)

I have no direct link but at http://www.digitalspy.co.uk they apparently have a leaked story from one of the actors about the finale. I didn't click it. i don't want to know anything about upcoming episodes :) speculation is my limit.

Also, did anyone see the article about some posh companies helmets in Live on Sunday? those helmets they wore on the scooter on the Idiots Lantern were posh! or something.

well that was um... fairly average? They can destroy the TARDIS as many times as they want, it always comes back. No more worry there.

But... the... Preview...

sounds like the Beast is back?! This episode looks like the Dalek one from last series, what with the ego-centric alien collector person. echoes from Van Stratten I'm sure. Maybe thats how he got the Cybermen head in his collection?

hmm!

You're right – that was indeed... um... fairly average. ;) Not a bad episode (and certainly nowhere near as bad as last weeks), but certainly not one of the best ones.

But that preview... if the next two episodes are half as good as they look from what we saw in that 45 seconds or so, we're in for a treat. I think the 'ego-centric alien collector person' was a Torchwood top brass lady, hence her wanting to get her hands on alien artifacts. And I think the Cyberman head in Dalek was actually supposed to be from a previous story – The Invasion maybe? – and this was alluded to on the little plaque on the display case. But we're now 100% certain that the Cybermen will return next week – and did you see that guy running and getting zapped? That looked exactly like a Dalek extermination to me.

So to recap, we're going to have Cybermen, possible Daleks, lots of soldiers shooting stuff, the TARDIS being seized and Rose likely to meet a sticky end. Looks like fun.

I appreciate the white text guys - downloading it as we speak. ;) I'll post some comments in the next day or so once I've had a chance to watch it. :)

He makes an appearance with Sarah Jane next season.

Well, hmm I actually thought this episode was worse than last weeks (I watched it again to make sure) but "horses for courses", as for the preview, yes at last a 70's/80's type full blown (poor mans copy of a bond film) ending, also I think the Daleks are going to turn up because as you saw the guy getting zapped you must also have noticed the Cybermen not carrying weapons, I've read a lot on other Whocentric forums that this would happen and if it does I will be a big kid again, I just hope that it ends darkly (sorry for the kids but the adults must be kept interested too) and open for the Daleks and Cybermen to return again and maybe the Timelords, God I am such a geek.

One thing I noticed in the preview... You mentioned that the Cybermen were unarmed – they looked to me like they had some sort of gun attachment on their wrists. I might be wrong though, due to my kid-like excitement at the preview. One thing I kicked myself later for not looking closer for, though – did the Cybermen we saw in the preview have the Cybus logo on their chestplates?

Well I had another look at the trailer on the BBC's website and...can confirm that there is a Cybus emblem on their chest as for a weapon I'm not sure as I couldn't see anything extra, I still think it looked like a Dalek "death ray", as Henry Van Statten had a Dalek why couldn't Torchwood have a few hidden away as they collect alien artefacts as well ;)

I see... Thanks for checking that. The fact that they're sporting the Cybus logo would suggest that these are 'alternative' Cybermen that manage to 'dimension-hop' somehow – if Daleks do feature too (and I'm in full agreement, that's definitely a Dalek deathray-type thing we see in the trailer) then there's the possibility that these are 'alternative' Daleks (if we see any wearing little goatees then we definitely know they're from a mirror dimension ;)). The Daleks are (apparently) wiped out in our world, there's no reason why they can't exist in another. In fact, in the alternative reality they might not only have survived the Time War, but may have won it. A Dalek invasion force equipped with Time Lord technology is a scary thought, maybe that's how they get here in the first place?

We'll find out (maybe) next Saturday. For now, I'm off to the BBC site to check out that trailer again. :D

Hah, it seems we all forgot the most important, and most brief revelation in this episode. The Doctor was a father at some point.

About the Dalek weapon, what if it is just that? A Dalek weapon. I've had a theory for a while that Torchwood are building/taking alien weapons. That big beam blast in the Christmas invasion for one. I think the events of that will ring through into the next episode too. Remember, the humans needlessly destroyed an alien mothership. The Doctor was a little pissed at that I don't think that's going to be the only repercussion.
Was that the Beasts voice we heard in the preview? Or was it just the same bit from the Impossible Planet episode?
it just seems to me-
-The original devil, the source of all evil has been sucked into a black hole. possibly infecting the TARDIS.
-The TARDIS has been acting funny all series
-Lots of people have gone missing
-Loneliness keeps being brought up, though this was in the last series too.

A couple of points I picked up from the trailer:

The Dalek ray appears to be coming from above - which could imply that it is not being fired by a Dalek. Also, in the next shot, we see the Doctor with what looks suspiciously like a Dalek 'plunger' over his shoulder.

Jaffa - I think you're right about the dimension hopping. This is also implied in the trailer when the Doctor says '...they're walking from their world, across the void and into yours'

Not really a revelation – we already knew that he had a granddaughter, so it's likely he has (had) at least one child. Good point about the Dalek weapon though – maybe it's something they've reversed engineered and bring out to stop the Cybermen? Let's be honest, if it turns out to be simply that then we're going to be just a tad disappointed...

It was the voice of The Beast we heard, I think though they were just repeating his words from the earlier episode for dramatic effect. And the TARDIS does seem to be getting a little poorly recently. We saw the effect of the alternative universe on the machine – it almost killed it – perhaps with a cross-dimensional breachy thing apparently brewing the TARDIS is feeling the effects?

EDIT: You're right about the Daleky death seeming to come from above – they can take to the skies though, don't forget.

Also to add a little more if you look very closely in the preview (it's not on the trailer) you can see...Mickey and Pete Tyler behind the Doctor and Rose as they look out the window, maybe Rose and Jackie go back to the parallel Earth at the end of Doomsday hence Rose leaving the series and the fact that Billie said she might return at a later date.

Right, that's enough speculation for one day, off to the pub for Sunday dinner and lots of shouting "Come on Ing gur lund" :D

Good reading! Great theories and speculation guys - everyone has pretty much captured everything I was thinking as well. Dalek death ray, but from above, Cybus logos on the Cybermen, implying they are from the alternate dimension, weapons of some sort mounted on the Cybermen''s wrists, what looks like Pete and Mickey in the background, the Doctor with a Dalek eye stalk (or something similar) - all very cool things which are going to make for an excellent finale!

And I agree, I would bet that Rose doesn't actually die, but perhaps she gets trapped (willingly or unwillingly) in the alternate dimension when they (presumably, eventually) seal it up to save the world. So the likelihood of her returning is next to zero, but it could "technically" happen. ;)

So, with all this inter-dimensional/parallel universe mingling going on, I wonder if we will indeed see an appearance by the Timelords as well? And will it be just a brief thing, since they will e from the parallel universe, or will it be some type of a permanent thing, where they get brought back somehow when all is said and done?

Can't wait for "Army of Ghosts" and "Doomsday" - should be an amazing finale for the season!
