i hope that when apple do release a tablet
it is not the dumb down version of osx like on the iphone...
I see a lot of the people doing mock ups going after that design.....

If its a tablet i want the full version and i hope it does not look like the touch.....

come on guys-is a tablet (full blwon full size touchscreen laptop) not an oversized ipod..

I tried to make this distinction earlier, but I guess it didn't stick. Apple can go one of two ways with their tablet (if such a thing exists): they can make a big brother for the iPhone or they can make a little brother for the MacBook. The big iPhone would run a version of OS X that, like on the iPhone, is not Mac OS X. This would take better advantage of the multitouch interface and work better on a sub-9" screen. The alternative is to build a full-size tablet (take a MacBook and tear off the keyboard) and let it run the full Mac OS X. No new software, no UI optimization, no new anything.

Personally, I'd like to see the full OS on there simply because I want to be able to run each and every app I have on my iMac on the tablet (and not have to worry about buying the "right" version). Nevertheless, I want the small screen more than I want ALL my apps from day one, and that scenario calls for a new OS. New applications can be written, but hardware choices need to be made up front.

Some people seem to be asking for a 12" tablet while others want an 8" one. As similar as these two might seem, they have vastly different user experience goals and therefore needvastly different OS solutions.

Here is my mock-up.

I personally never liked the idea of a tablet/touch laptop. I would, however, like to see an iphone multi-touch display in place of the touchpad. Maybe a slider to unlock?

...silky-smooth navigation and easily wipes clean.

Quite nice actually! I would do the same for the keyboard...

Im personally just curious why the tablet would even have the words Macbook in it. I mean after all isn't a book something with 2 faces that closes. A tablet is just.... a face. All I can say is it better not just be called iTouch... i don't think that would go over well. :p

Like Leopard. It's just transparent and you can see right through it, straight to whatever is beneath it. So if your desktop image is there you can see it through the bars.

trying... but the leopard menubar effect is opaque or translucent or what?? can i do this in Gimp?? yes, how?

"Mac Touch" would make much more sense.

Or maybe it could be tied into the Newton... How about the iSaac?

I don't know if you can do it in Gimp... I am sure you can though since you could have done it in PS for a while. You have to make the bars a separate layer and just turn the opacity down. Make it a white color or light grey color and then turn the opacity down.

Apple's tablet is already for sale. It's the iPhone/touch.

Would anyone really use a tablet for their day-to-day and let your current Mac sit around?

Cheers.

okay, i checked it does do opacity, but the leopard menubar is that opacity, isn't it a special effect?

Hell no!... the iPhone and Touch are too small and too limited to be considered a Tablet. The iPhone is barely a phone or a PDA.

I don't think it's an effect like the Dock is. I just think it has an opaque background and black letters.

I just made this one, it's not great, but it has IMO some nice ideas for the tablet, your app or website goes further on the dock, but with a little opacity, your dock icons appear fully when they are active, otherwise they also are opaque.. Any suggestions, for making it better?

really nice... I'm going to make something similar (if you don't mind)

I wouldn't it would be very very cool, but i don't think this would be a good keyboard, maybe when apple comes up with a reall pressure sensitive multi-tpuch display, maybe then..

Sorry for the 2 posts

I remember seeing this a while back and thinking it looked amazing

not mine...here is the link

Am I the only one who prefers having a real keyboard on a notebook? I would prefer not to put my grubby fingers on the screen... and my typing rate is pretty good on my MBP :)
