Beautiful football from Marge and Tina. Real class, unlike England who faff around making hard work of beating the lowliest of teams.

What was all that about with Crespo? He was well onside, scores a great goal and ends up with the goal disallowed and a yellow card as well.

Yeah, I thought it was a goal as well, and that he was perfectly onside. Guess I'll have to watch the replay... Ah well, I guess it isn't going to cost them the match or anything... ;)

And yeah, the way England is playing they don't deserve to be moving on. Ah well, they'll have to learn to quickly shape up or else they will be making an awfully quick exit in the Round of 16...

what what a game of beautiful goals ... first the one with the dream combination and now the Tevez goal

5:0 and the Argentinean total domination won't stop

edit: make that 6:0 ...

5-0 now......

Argentina is definitely sending a message to the rest of the teams that they're not messing around. They will be one of the top teams (if not the top team) in the next round.

Really looking forward to the Argentina-Holland match next week!

Feeling much better now that it's 6-0 since we debated (en route to the pub) whether to stop at the bookies who had a 'put on £10 and get back £250' if it ends up 4-0 and passed on.

When it got to 3-0 we were beginning to kick ourselves... but now feel better!

So...England have to finish top of their group to avoid getting Argentina in the quarters and getting knocked out.

Quarters? Wouldn't they have to beat Ecuador or Germany first to get to the quarters? I wouldn't look past either of those teams, especially with how anemic England has been playing so far.

Judging by past World Cups, meeting Argentina would be the best thing to happen to England - the ultimate rocket up their back sides to play to their potential. The game would undoubtedly be a great spectacle for the World Cup too, neither team would bet against losing, and it would defintiely be the most almighty full-on battle. It may sound unlikely if you dont follow England, but they are a traditionally good knock out competition team as they raise their game when theyplay great teams, and you will not believe that England against Argentina was the same team that just slipped a couple of recent victories.

I actually agree. My commen was kind of tongue-in-cheek. I do however also believe that this is one of the best Argentinian teams for many years (much better than the one England beat in 2002, and better than the one we lost to in 1998).

Didn't see the whole match, but from what I did manage to catch, Holland looked great. The Argentina - Netherlands match next week will be one I'll be glued to the set for, should be a great one!

Ivory coast were by FAR the better team second half... the argies should outclass holland without a sweat to be honest.

Yup. I only saw the second half in full, and the Ivory Coast were quite good.

Mexico/Angola 0-0 74:30

Mexico's getting better chances in the second half, but Angola's turning them back again and again.

Uh oh... red card for Angola at 80:00. If Mexico can't take advantage, there will be *many* unhappy people in San Fran tonight and I'll steer well clear of the Mission District...

I tell you, it was that Rui Marques that foiled the Mexicans. ;)
I know, it seems that the Hullites (Hulligans?) have given him proper training :D .

Anyway, that Joao Ricardo is insane! See the similarity?

That still doesn't explain why Mexico broke the "most missed passes" record though :(

Er, no... sorry.

I am a little disappointed with the result, to be honest – As I've mentioned, Mexico are my sweepstake pick and I was banking on my boys to get a win tonight. Ah well...

It's my Dad's sweepstake team as well.

However, I was rooting for Angola. Only because I think it'd be good to have at least one African team in the next round (especially given that Ivory Coast have been knocked out, and they were probably the best African team in the World Cup this year).
