Unlucky for Ghana so far. Conceded two goals, one of which was just some crazy defending, the second of which was off side. Also should've scored. Dida didn't know that he had saved it!

If it wasn't for some poor finishing and a poor offside decision, Ghana would be ahead.

Ghana are being played by a team that seems to be able to up a gear at will and just keep ahead. Like they have no doubts they will win. From a Spanish speaking point of view, it was quite amusing to hear the commentator repeating Cocu, Kaka, Cocu Kaka attacking down the right flank.

It's just as amusing for English speakers. :D

While I still feel a bit sorry for Ghana, I think the yellow+red card for acting was good judging. I hate Italian style tactics in the penalty area.

agreed. both of those teams did a ton of acting in the group games. too bad ghana got penalized for it while italy was able to win a game off it.

Venido en España.

Imagine dropping the big game player (Garcia) for that fool Raul (bet that comes back to bite me :) )

hmmm... *looks left, looks right*

allez les bleus! allez les bleus!

*ducks under table*

It's really loud around here right now after that Ribery goal!

Am I supposed to write something in French to keep up the thread pattern?

Si je pense à qqchose, je vous dirai :)

Fantastice game. Should have been a yellow card for Torres for his pathetic dive at a penalty. Tricky for the ref to see but for once the ref did well.

Ribery's goal was amazingly cool.

He took his leg, sure he exaggerated it. It doesn't mean it isnt a pen.

Spain need to get some wingers on and run at that aging defence, joaquin wont be on the bench much longer along with garcia or reyes.

EDIT told you so :)

He didn't "take his leg". It came down *adjacent* to his leg and it was a dive. Should have been yellow carded.

btw why was the first penalty a penalty as the player was heading out of the penalty area with his back to goal?

You're so wrong, again. He stamped/dug his studs into the back of his leg/achillies... its a clear cut pen. It isn't even debatable.

Here it is again.

dowhatnow?

I'm not really sure what that means, if you mean why was the above clip a penalty and suggesting it shouldnt have been because he was heading out of the area then you need to give up watching the game ;)

It is a definite foul, and a foul in the penalty area means it is a penalty kick, they are the rules of this game.

BakedBeans is right on on this one. It wasn't blatant (the guy didn't intentionally pen the other players foot), but that doesn't make it any less of a foul. I mean an incidental handball is still a handball.

What does the orientation of the attacking player to the goal have to do w/whether or not it was a penalty?

very poor play by fabregas, nearly led to a very dangerous situation... senna on please

EDIT senna is coming on for xavi... cant believe that... get your head together cesc.. a neat pass or a goal... something...

Getting in late....

I'm hoping for a France win (yeah.. ok.... now that they are 2-1 in front, that seems a bit cheap :p ).
But I have said it before, I want France to get as far as possible just for Henry.

This should be by far the best match of this round. And it's sad that these two have to play eachother already... .especially after seeing last night's late match
