I'd love to see Ukraine pull off the win as well, for two reasons - firstly, I always like cheering for the underdog, and secondly, I just don't like Italy.

Well, Maxi was two feet off the side of the box, but close enough. Schneider went down in the same spot in a similar manner on the other end and was awarded the free kick for his efforts. We call that "home cooking" over here.

Redemption time for Lehmann. He defended the penalties as well as you can. Read every kick perfectly.

All in all, germany played better through the game and deserved the victory.

Lehman will get the "hero" comments, although he saved two poor pens, the real winners were the OUTSTANDING german penalty takers... they are the heros..

some things don't change and as soon as it went to pens, germany had won.
