Ukraine lost miserably. I just wish it wasn't to Italy - they're so arrogant and shouldn't have been there in the first place (I'm still bitter).

Whatevaaa. ;)

Italy always has its place in a World Cup™ final.

Hmm, I'm sure I mentioned something about arrogance. :p ;)

3-0. Nuff said.

Arrogance? Who's being arrogant here?  :p

To their credit, no fake dives, and no bookings. Unlike the Ukraine who played a wee bit dirty tonight....

and you're not still sore about the last game are you? ;) :p

My final standings prediction:

1. Brazil (after a close fought win in the final)
2. Germany
3. England (penalty shoot out in the 3/4 game
4. Italy

I think Brazil could loose to France in the semi. Brazil haven't been too hot in the last games, France was quite good and has a psychological advantage. I agree on the other 3 teams, but don't see England beating Italy in the 3/4 (if Italy is still motivated - unlikely).

Well, not a good day for Ché fans and those pulling for Ukraine (which I was). It's a good win for Germany and Italy. It's true, Brazil could lose to France and England might lose to Portugal, though I'm holding on to hope both sides advance. It's to a level now where no match is a walk in the park, though it seems Italy got pretty close to that in today's win.

The arrogance card still makes me smile. Nada que ver. I think Germany is too much for an Italy, right now, and will play the final against the side who continues to raise their level. France have done that, arguably, more than either Brazil or England, but Brazil will not lay down, tomorrow. Too much at stake for a team to play flat. I look for England to have their best game of the Cup.

taking out riquelme single handed crippeld the whole offense except rodriguez
I didn't get to see the match, today. But I could not believe it when I read that Pekerman pulled Riquelme with 18 minutes to go?! What was that? Can anyone who saw it explain what he was thinking? Pekerman has resigned.

It looked like Argentina thought they could defend their lead.
[after the fact]Cringe[/after the fact]. Gawd-awful decision. And no Messi appearance, either? That's all part of game, and takes nothing away from Germany's win. But Riquelme had been the ramrod for this team. I just don't get it. Anyway, thanks for the comment. On to better things.

I think England have got a chance, IF they can step their performances up for the next two matches I can see them beating Italy or Germany in the final.

It's a hard one to call because all the teams left in it are capable of winning it if they play their best football.

I was shocked with Argentina. No messi, what was that about! Argentina should have attack germany with Messi and gone for the second goal.

I can understand why Marge and Tina thought they could get away with it. For about 80% of the game there was no urgency in the German attack. They would hurredly get the ball forward only for someone to stop it dead and wait till the Argentine defenders were in better positions. It was weird. Not only that but just about every free kick and corner that Poldoski sent in was wretched.

This cup is starting to look like France 2002 in which case Germany will prevail over Brazil in the final when Ronaldo gets an upset tummy.

Has to be said, it must have been the most boring 3-0 yet...

....and Italy's second best goal difference in a World Cup final phase match.

Record is a 7-1 against the USA.... in 1934! :p

and agreed on the boring part. It even took the edge/usual stress out of being an Italy fan.

France 1998.

I think most French people would prefer to forget about 2002. ;)

I liked the anti racism public statements, particularly hearing Beckham read his part. As long as nationalism isn't cloaked in the same, good on them. Good luck, England.

whoops, yeah, that's the one. heh heh.

Anyhoo. It's the moment of truth coming up. I'm having a celebratory port. (that''s not supposed to be an omen, I couldn't be bothered to go out in the freezing cold to get a late night cake). OK can't stop to chat, there's a football game on. See you at half time. England have two good game to string together for the tourny, let's hope they start now.

Man, those irritating Portuguese are even worse than the Italians when it comes to diving.

Good thing our team made it impossible for those pansies to dive... we just played rough and truly made them fall :p

Come on England!
