Which game were you watching?

Crouch played VERY well, and held up the ball as best he could, providing rare moment of release for England.

I said I would leave this thread, but I'm so sucked in.

I think I'm bit bitter because I DISLIKE CROUCH VERY MUCH.

****, I was hoping for a match between England and Germany.

Maybe in four years.

Now we (Germany) only have to send Italy home and we are in the final.

I KNOW THATS WHY I WAS GOING FOR ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I gotta agree. 58 minutes of gutsy play with 10 on the pitch. I did not think, though, that replacing Lennon was the best decision. Tough, all around, to lose this way.

Yeah, pretty harsh - but I wouldn't change football for the world. The pain of losing makes the joy of winning mean something.

Lampard and Gerrard, coming up small once again. When I saw the look on Gerrard's face before he took his pen, I knew there was no way he was going to make it.

Very disappointing result. All the sides I'm rooting for are dropping like flies. Anyone want to pay me to root against their favorite side? :D

You are a true friend of the game.

I thought Hargreaves was brilliant, I thought Crouch was brilliant and I though Lennon was excellent.

Agree 100% on Hargreaves and Lennon. I thought Crouch was good - not quite brilliant.

Strange game. Neither side looked likely to score I thought. That said, England were very good defensively. Their best defensive effort for quite some time I thought.

Well, if Brazil play Brazil (Portugal) in the Semis, you should have plenty of takers. :)

Far out! you were hopeful. Australia just aren't that good. They did amazingly well just getting past the group phase.

Crouch was brilliant, he held the ball up so so so well, just what he was bought on the field to do.

As I've been saying all along. England have group of top class top shelf players who as a team are much less than the sum of their parts and at the first real opposition just couldn't come up with the piece of individual brilliance that has save their collective butts throughout the tournament. Rooney's petulent sending off is typical. They earned no respect from any of their games. Whereas Australia didn't have a bad game even the loss against Brazil

Everyone would have to pay me a *lot* of money to convince me to root for Portugal.

Australia played 4 games. They only won 1 game. They conceded 6 goals.

England, down to ten men, play out of there skin and played like heros. Aussie team are talentless but organised

Only under Hiddink were they organised. They would never have even qualified had Farina still been there.

What's really funny is that whether I know anything at all about football or not it doesn't change the fact that England, by Gary Neville's own admission were rubbish and have proved to be pretenders. And Robinson didn't make a single save.

Actually... he didn't say England were rubbish. Might want to read your own quote.

I agree that Australia did punch above their weight, the Portuguese punched below the belt and with a few exceptions, much of the England team need a belt of 240 volts.

Football was a great game once, before Ronaldo appeared on the scene and we all aired our bar room opinions in a bar and not on an international stage :p

I never thought I would ever say this, but Allez les bleus.
