So far my intake of Peroni has matched Italy's goal scoring in each game I've watched. I have 8 in the fridge tonight just in case!
I've got a couple of bottles of Kronenbourg in the fridge so I'm sorted too – I prefer Peroni though, to be honest.

To be honest, normally I'd be backing Italy too – my support for France stems simply from the fact that they and Mexico were my two picks in the work sweepstake. If France are runners up, I get £20 but if they win I get £50. My loyalties are easily bought... :D

Time to start generating some highly random MR World Cup nominations for awards, I think. Although I'm probably not the best for this as I haven't seen much of the tournament on telly. But here goes:

Most entertaining 'minnows': Australia
Most over-rated team: England or Brazil
Orangest tan in studio: Gary Lineker

You are a very honest person today :D

For a similar reason to yours I have to support Italy and to be more precise they have to win 1 : 0. I got maximum points in "our sweepstake" yesterday for my 3 : 1 prediction and have very good chances to get on top spot, if it ends 1 : 0 to Italy today... maybe I should light some candles

Alright, um, go France I guess.
just because Australia got knocked out and eveyone has gone back to footy and cricket? how will the sport grow here if it is forgotten about so quickly?

All kidding aside, it is quite astonishing the complete decline of coverage of the World Cup on the commercial networks after the Aussie's campaign was over. Hardly surprising and thank god for SBS.

agreed, on the contrary, they should celebrate the socceroos astonishing acheivement of reaching the Second round in their second WC of all time.

Plus, as hosts, we'd qualify automatically. Hurrah!

first off, i doubt you'll need qualification help :D , but from what i've heard they'd keep south africa's automatic bid cause it was supposed to be theirs. of course, this is all theoretical since hopefully they'll pull it off, a SA World Cup would be pretty sweet in my opinion.

moving on to the soon-upcoming game, my prediction is 0-0 after regulation, 1-1 after 120 min, and france prevails 4-3 on penalties with zidane hitting the final one for the win. :)

1-0 Already. Lots of drama so far. The penalty did actually seem like a dive on the replays.

The defender moved to tackle the player at two points, but pulled away both times. On the replays it didn't look like there was contact, but live it most certainly looked like it, so I don't blame the judge.

With a coach as a professional actor, there has to be some drama. Score goes 1-1. Looks like it's heating up.

nothing would please me more then to see the French beat Italy, the only worse thing then an Italian fan, is when the Italian fans team wins.

Let's not forget that if oscars were given out for best dives in a soccer game, the Italian team would win everytime.

Well its half-time. France 1-1 Italy...

Italy got there goal the right way, with skill, but France got there goal with pure luck in that penalty shot.

GO ITALY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) :)
