If only you'd spin away from this Apple forum. The Apple silicon uses far less power and delivers the same performance on both battery and wired. Those PC laptops throttle quickly and perform abysmally when not plugged into the wall with a massive adapter. Go look up that 3080 vs M1 gaming comparison on battery power. The PC gets 30fps on battery and the MBP gets 90. These are BALANCED computers that do everything well. I'd much rather have a laptop that gets decent battery life and performs similarly than something that absolutely sucks on battery power and requires me to plug it in all the time to get any performance out of it.

Not to mention that most people here (like myself) much prefer MacOS and the Apple ecosystem which means that a switch to a full windows setup isn't preferred, no matter the hardware. I love iCloud integration and how streamline it makes my entire digital life. I use my windows PC for windows apps and gaming and that's it. Everything else I use my MBP for and much prefer the UI and overall experience. PLEASE MOVE ON.
Apparently one cannot stop a troll from trolling.…

Same with unreal engine via Twinmotion.

Hey, nice to see another Aussie here using Twinmotion! I'm installing 2022.1 as we speak.

I also have the new 14" Max top spec and using with Archicad and Twinmotion. Both these applications are NOT optimised for M1 but they run great and I look forward to them being complied for M1.

I have a maxed out Intel 16" MacBook from last year and this new M1 MacBook Max is faster with my apps.

I have a Razor Blade Advanced 15" i9 with 3080 which smashes the M1 Max but it's nowhere near as portable because the power supply is huge and the laptop is useless without it.

The future is bright for 3D mobile workstations.

The intel cpu is extremly old 14 nm tec:

The world is spinning further, regardless Apple was using old crap for there previous mac book gen.

Compare the M1 10 c version with 12900HK:

Core i9-12900HK

Single core: 1.851 points

Multicore: 13.256 points

Apples M1 Max

Single core: 1.785 points

Multicore: 11.968 points

The newest Intel gen is faster than M1 Max and is not soldered not upgradeable ram and ssd and can run x86 code natively without this rosetta crap which is big downside of this overpriced apple hardware.
Intel is made for running windows and games. Two things I have zero interest in.
If it doesn't run macOS then it is dead in the water to me!

The keyboard. Rubber dome for such a high price tag :D. Or this rubber dome keyboard for ipad pro case for 400 Euros. Without illumination :D. I sit yesterday infront my gigabyte aorus notebook with mechanical keys and thought: "Why is the keyboard of this mac so cheap feeling? It's costing nearly 3000 Euros, while the Gigabyte costs 2200 Euros."

The video shows the practical gaming fps
I don’t know how can you accept that but I cannot. There is no way to call it Max when the old version gaming fps is 300% of it. I doubt M2 Max or even M3 Max can catch it up after like 3, 4years. You deserve much better this if you bought the Max.

Did you link to the wrong video or did you get the numbers backwards? The gaming benchmark in that video showed 129 fps for the old MacBook Pro and 309 fps for the M1 Max.

Is this benchmark a game? He wrote that m1 pro/max is good for benchmarks ;).

You're citing a chip that is not yet released in a laptop and only has leaked benchmarks. Nobody yet knows how well they will perform inside a laptop's thermal constraints. I think it's just an attempt to steal Apples thunder.

I for one hope that the chip is this powerful as competition is good.

Most Apple fans dont know how technology works, so they think mac is state of the art. Pc hardware is much more advanced as this cheap arm cpu. I dont talk about cheap pc's. I mean pc's which are in the same price range ;). For 4000 Euros, you could build an Intel Alderlake DDR5 RTX 3090 system, which is repairable. Remember this before you buy a Macbook for your workstation. As i said if you have to use Apple software, you have no choice. In this case don't think about it.

I don’t have to use Apple software. I want to, because using Windows is not a good experience IMO. The only thing I like better about Windows is its game compatibility. I do casually play games, and I use Windows for that, but when I’m done gaming, I switch back to macOS as soon as possible. By the way, I was Windows only user who built my own gaming PCs for over a decade before trying my first Mac because I had to use it for work at the time. So I’m not someone who is unfamiliar with Windows or just like macOS because it’s what I’m used to.

Did you use Windows 11 on a fast pc? It's for me delivering the far better experience than mac os does. I was glad when i disconnected the macbook pro 2021 from my monitor and switched back to my pc. Much more fluent usage.

Mac Os is for me like a Linux variant, not really polished with many inlogical and intricately functions.

So if you are so lyrical about windows and negative about macOS then what are you doing here on a mac forum? Trolling I take it!

Because the display (hdr content), noise level and battery life is good. The os isn't.

Strange. Win 10/11 is way slower than the Mac (M1) on my machines (which are no slouches)... plus I much prefer Linux over Windows. Its faster in any way, more stable, better experience overall (sans on newer Laptops like the Razer Blade 14. But that is another topic).

Win 11 is slower :D. Not on my desktop. It's much faster and much more intuitive than mac os. I dislike Linux for desktop work. It's not user friendly. This horror when you have to install a programm and you need to google every lib you need and even then the installing is horror, with a lot of errors.

Linux is not more stable. Last time i saw a windows crash is years ago.

You bought 3 of these new MacBook pros and sent them all back because of how poor the display is. Complaining through an entire thread. Stating its slow, not 120hz, smearing very badly, Old lcd technology and later stating "i would never release such a bad display".

Yep, for hdr videos @ 24-30 fps it was good enough. I don't use this laptop for working a lot. It's mostly for multimedia. But from a 2200-3000 notebookbook i expect more. Fluent workflow without heavy artifacts and stuttering is bare minimum.

The display is bad, expect static images and hdr videos with low fps.

So you basically admit you have no clue about Linux. What you describe is nothing like the way apps are installed on any of the halfway common distros

It's common for github. Linux is no way as comfortable as Windows. I mean not the standard things you can do with ubuntu and it's "app store".

I have used linux a lot. The only cool thing it's is customizability and the code/tools you can execute on it. But usability is poor horror.

My favourite linux distris is open wrt for my router and Kali linux. But im far away from using it with joy ;).

High end Windows laptop has better display?
