The only negative I’ve seen with the 14 Plus is that it’s the same price as a 13 Pro Max (£949). Paying that much money I just could t justify the 14 Plus once I compared the features. I’d make better use of the telephoto and macro camera on the 13 Pro Max compared to the new features on the 14 Plus. I did the comparison and went with the device I felt was better for me.

Enjoy your 14 Plus, it’ll be a great iPhone and I expect to start seeing them being used soon. They are on the pricey side though for a non-Pro iPhone IMO.

People trying to justify buying the 14 pro max instead.

Just because the PM has the most stuff, doesn’t mean it’s the best phone for other peoples use cases.

I really don’t need promotion for reading books.

Couldn’t care less for an extra camera for the 3 pics I take every month.

Oh, it weighs less? Great!

Oh it’s cheaper? Perfect.

Oh, the battery lasts even longer than the most expensive model? Awesome!

I just hope people won’t call me out on the street when they see I only paid for a 2-camera phone. So embarrassing.
The more I use my 13 Pro Max, the more I fully understand why some people will go for a 14 Plus, honestly.
Not everyone needs what a Pro Max brings and I think as time goes by the 14 Plus could pick up pace in sales due to this.
For the “average user” I would actually recommend they get a 14 Plus, before they hurt themselves with a 240g Pro Max brick, lol!

The 14 Plus is the opposite of what Macrumours likes. Macrumours want a phone which is as small/mini as possible with the top PRO specs. They want a small phone to complement their 13 inch Ipad pro, apple watch Ultra, pro display XDR, Apple AR glasses, HomePod, and all of the other top of the range tech they have lying around.

The type of demographic who will flock to this phone aren't going to be on Macrumours as they're not tech enthusiasts, they're every day salt of the earth working people who need a large screen at a competitive price point since they use their phone as an all in one device. In the real world this phone will sell well but it'll be deeply unpopular in tech enthusiast spaces.

I don’t think anyone really cares or notices wether someone else has an iphone 14 plus or max on the street. I ordered the 14 max only because I‘m a photographer, and I do care about the extra camera. But thats just me. I don’t judge or care if someone buys the plus. It seems like a great iphone, and If I didn’t want/need the extra camera, I’d totally buy the plus. The battery life is awesome! I’m also a big guy with big hands & prefer the larger size. I think it’s great that Apple finally is offering a larger iphone without all the bells & whistles of the max. Not everyone needs or wants them. A phone is just a tool. I don’t need the latest & greatest. If my iphone does what I need, I don’t upgrade every year. I kept my iphone 11 pro max for 3 yrs. I wasn’t even going to upgrade to the 14 max & planned to wait for the 15… but my 11 suddenly died. It’s all good.
good points. I honestly dont think anyone cares what anyone has anymore. Ive had the ultra since launch and not even one person has said anything about it. (not that I want them to but just saying)

Very true!

Most of the forum members here are the "Pro" group.

My wife likes her 13 PM because of the camera and video features.

I have no need for such fancy digital camera features.

The only reason I got the 14+ is due to the larger screen size (my eyes are getting old), SOS emergency (remote waters fishing), and battery life (important in remote areas with no cell service).

Otherwise I'd stick with my trusty 12 Pro that I have had for 2 years.

No, they don't.

Read what I wrote.
I have read what you said, and you’re still wrong, the 14+ has the exact same satellite capabilities as does the 14 Pro Max
Both phones have the exact same hardware for that capability, both phones have the same software implementation, there is no difference.
It doesn’t matter what country you’re in, if your country doesn’t support it on the 14+ they are absolutely not going to magically support it on the pro max.

Yes, my incoming 14+ has SOS emergency!
I am in the USA.
It better or else it's getting returned.

I think @John981 is from Europe which does not have this feature...

Tomorrow is delivery day!!!

I wouldn’t use the word hate. It’s just that Apple has way too much fragmentation today. They need to return to the one phone business model with all the bells and whistles. Offer last year’s model as well at a reduced cost for those who don’t want or can’t afford the latest and greatest. I would be much happier with a 13 Pro at the cost of a 14: better cameras, better display, same processor. And drop the Max model, 6.1” display should be more than enough for most people. But it’s all about the shareholders now.
It was always about the shareholders. The reason it took some time to get to multiple sizes was because it was an emerging market, now it's a mature market thus differentiation. The way I look at it is Apple sells 2 phones a year each with two sizes.

If the 14 Plus had at least a 90hz display I would have went with it. But I am someone who can see the difference between a 60hz and the Pro’s 120h display and it’s enough to push me to the Pro.
Same. If it had promotion I'd upgrade to it. Sadly it does not have

Perhaps you should be "complaining" about the exchange rates as that is a reason the iPhone 14 is higher priced than the 13.

In Germany, for example, a 128GB iPhone 14 is €834 (excluding VAT) which at the current exchange rate is equal to around $820 USD. This is actually slightly lower than the $829 U.S. price (excluding sales tax or VAT).

When the 128GB iPhone 13 launched last year, it was priced at €749 (excluding VAT) which at the time was around $876 USD. The iPhone 14 is actually lower priced in USD than the 13 was but the exchange rate resulted in a higher euro price.
People don't get a raise when the exchange rate changes, thus for them it is more expensive.

GOOD MORNING!

Sounds like those people should get the 14 PM and you should get the Plus. I don't know that any PM users are justifying anything but it sure as hell sounds like you're trying to justify the Plus lmao

How do you know you don’t need promotion for reading books? I don’t know either, but it sounds possibly pretty dang cool for reading books.

I understand that but it doesn't mean that currency exchange rates aren't something to "complain" about. As I pointed out in my previous post, the iPhone 14 price in Germany was actually lower (in USD) than the iPhone 13 price. The higher euro price was due to the exchange rate change.

Also not as good looking as the iPhone 14 Pro.

I am not even considering a new iPhone purchase for at least another three years.
I am going back to my SE 2020 as that’s all I need in a phone and selling my 12 mini.

All I need is to make calls, texts and listen to music with my AirPods while out for a walk. Any model of iPhone will do what I need so I have no need to spend a small fortune on the latest and greatest.

Everybody’s case is different but I expect lots of people will be like me, I don’t use any kind of social media rubbish so the battery lasts me two days on one charge.
I don't use any kind of social media rubbish either and still need to charge twice a day. I don't even listen to music on my phone. It just gets hammered with web use, video and emails.

I don’t think people here in Europe really consider US prices and how they compare to be honest. It just boils down to how much the prices have increased from last year and how little everybody’s wages have increased along with the soaring cost of living at the moment. The new iPhone 14’s are horrendously expensive in comparison with £100-£150 increases across the base models. People from the US telling us we aren’t paying over the odds doesn’t make it any less of a price hike to swallow. It’s putting a significant amount of people off upgrading but that is just one element when everything else is expensive on top of that.

I have not compared 14 and 14 Pro, and I haven‘t said that one of them offers satellite communication and one doesn‘t.

What I have written is that neither of them offer it in the European market, hence getting a standard 14 over a standard 13 does not make a lot of sense.
