I have noticed a big difference in my signal with the plus. I actually saw 5g+ on my phone with at&t. Never seen that before.
Yeah didn’t know that but 5g and 5g plus is not as crucial as 1 bar 4g signal 15 mbps vs 75 mbps with same signal side to side comparison

Because it’s a ridiculous size that only a very small niche of customers would use

I think the 14 Plus would've been in a better situation if it was like around $100 cheaper. Yes I am aware, inflation and all of that stuff but let's be honest this iPhone is not $900 worthy.

It is obscenely expensive for an XL iPhone 13 to be honest. It should be starting at £849 not £949. When you consider the iPhone 13 Pro Max is now cheaper than the 14 Plus, it doesn’t make for a very appealing purchase IMO.

If you really understand inflation, then the numbers don’t lie.

The same iPhone 13 should sell for $879 today after the annual $100 price cut, but with a 20% inflation adjustment. The idea iPhone 14 Plus should be $800 is just ridiculous.

The fact it’s the same price or more expensive than a 13 Pro Max is also ridiculous.

I’d say it’s a transient effect of high inflation. It doesn’t make sense to adjust prices on outgoing models. When that stock gets depleted, it will be moot.

Another effect of high inflation is less people buy the product, especially when wages aren’t increasing and products are going up £100-£150.

I wonder why everyone is talking just price and not everyday practicality... having had the phone all day yesterday I can tell you 1- my hand did not hurt due to weight 2- did not get the pocket "inflammation" 3- battery was insane (yes much better than the max) - I honestly just don't get he negativity of this phone its kinda funny!

Im not a 14 plus hater, actually quite admire it. However, I’m sure if. 14PM user switched to 60Hz then the battery would outlast the 14 plus.

yeah possibly! But for me I just do web browsing, emails, etc. so honestly don't even notice it... even tested the differences on people here last night and they were laughing as they couldn't even tell... but what everyone could tell, is the weight! Said it felt like a leather, the 14+

Apple has done a decent job in keeping demand. Consumers can continue to purchase iPhone 13 if they feel the 14 doesn’t offer enough value. Under normal circumstances, Apple would have deleted the iPhone 13 mini given it occupies the same $599 slot as iPhone 12. But it remains a choice for people who are looking for a $599 device.

So the pumpkins photo you posted above was taken with the 14 Plus? Very nice! Do you have a case on yours? The Plus seems like the best middle ground option for me, since I think the 14 Pro is too much for my needs, and the 13 Mini might be too small and lacking in battery life. But I’m a little concerned about the weight/bulk of the Plus and case combined.

Ignore the inflation and think about it for what it's worth as a consumer, not the company.

You're telling me that iPhone is a good deal for $900?

yes the second photos is the plus first is the 14PM, but the weight is just fine... feels like a iPhone 14 regular can hardly tell. In every day photography you will not tell a difference, its just night and telephoto.

Having used mine for 2 days now, here are some thoughts (not ranked by significance)

1. Yes it's light when you don't have a case and a screen protector on, after using it with the official silicon case and applying the screen protector, single-hand use still feels heavy. I can't imagine the Pro Max users' feelings.

2. As a first-time Pro Max (size) user, the battery life (on a new device, restored my 13 Pro backup, running iOS 16.1 beta 4 --- that's what MacRumorians do right lol) is superb. I have used it for a day (from 10 am, 100% charge) and there is still 50% left when it came to 00:00 the next day. As of the time I made this post, the battery life is at 45%, I hand calculated the screen on time total which is an amazing 351 minutes (~5.9 hours).

3. I DO MISS THE ULTRAWIDE CAM with Auto Focus on my 13 Pro. The autofocus-enabled ultrawide taking closeups and macro shots are something you'll miss if you have used them once.

4. ProMotion, it's good to have but I don't miss it much as I do for the Ultrawide Cam with AF.

5. Gaming without immediate brightness drop on the go (playing Genshin @ medium settings, 60fps), that's nice.

Anyway, I would recommend anyone who would like to give the Plus a try the following

1. Get a durable case, for the protection of the frame, aluminum is scratch resistant but not drop-resistant ( I have not dropped mine but I remembered how my iPhone 5 dropped and bent its aluminum frame)

2. Wait for a discount from a reputable seller other than Apple? The official price is pretty hefty for its features IMO.

It does remain the be seen whether the mainstream consumer wants a bigger phone though. The Pro Max is the best selling Pro, but it’s a much smaller market due to it being the most expensive model.

Yes, the standard 14 can still outsell the 14 Plus, but we'll have to see. The price might be the factor there, but the
standard series have weaker sales figures than they anticipated. The global market likes large phones.

The 13 was the top selling phone in April 2022 (5.5% of sales), followed by the 13 Pro Max (3.4% of sales).
The S22 Ultra is a 6.8" Android phone and that was the top selling Android phone, it ranked #5 overall below.

I'm not sure how one defines the mainstream market any longer this year. The Pro models are the ones at least here in the US that the stores can't keep in stock.
