This exactly! The valid criticism isn't that it's a bad phone, it's that the 14 Plus could've been introduced last year as a 13 Plus because that's essentially what it is.
There haven't been many iPhones legitimately like this where the hardware could've been almost exactly the same if introduced a year earlier. iPhone 5c is an example but it wasn't branded as a successor to iPhone 5.
They could have simply given it a 4-core GPU A16 chip and maybe a 90hz screen to properly position it as a 14 Plus rather than a 13 Plus that was just named 14 Plus, lol!
Honestly though, I cannot wait to see how this model does, I think Apple are on the right track in bringing back the “Plus” by making it a Pro Max lite, but they need to make it a little more enticing.
Let’s hope if there is a 15 Plus it has:
- 4-Core GPU A17
- 90hz screen
- same big battery as the Pro Max
I think Apple missed a big opportunity with 14 Plus in terms of enticing those android users who are on the fence and are looking at a Pixel 7 Pro, Galaxy S22+ and possibly iPhone.
