Has anyone got a video of the Kuyt tackle? I've only seen it once on MOTD..

Well here is a picture of it from the Beeb. It was a ridiculous challenge, i watched the match and feel that while reckless he didn't actually mean to harm him in anyway. He was merely trying to block the pass. Anyway it was on Phil Neville so who cares.

worst possible angle - there is loads of space between them.

Anyway, all this is useless. He got a yellow card and in the opinion of a well trained, experiences and top rated official, he didn't deserve a red.

There isn't that much space between them in that picture. That is Neville's shadow on Kuyt's leg.

Well the difference is that the refs have to make a quick decision based on what they saw. We have the benefit of replays and multiple angles. Mo matter how you cut it that should've been a red.

Rubbish. The laws of the game say no and no matter how much you don't like that you don't supercede them, there is nothing you can do about it.

I was in the ground and saw exactly how far there was. It's utter crap that some of you are spouting.

Utter crap (?), if you were at the ground you are at the same disadvantage as the ref.

I'm a red, always have and always will be and a big fan of Kuyt but please some objectivity. It was a two footed off the ground reckless challenge. Only Neville's ability to jump high enough got him out of the challenge.

I'm at no disadvantage at all. I've seen it in the flesh and in replays, putting the two together gets a far better view of the reality of the situation.

His feet were already past him, with the flats of his feet showing in that picture, he jumped over his shoulders, so unless you believe that a belly or shoulder to the foot constitutes a red card and serious violent conduct, then you're wrong.

As for you being a red, it really doesn't matter. I'm not looking at it as a red, if I was I would rub it in to all the bitters and say yeah, you should have had two pens, ours were bogus and kuyt should be given a leathal injection... but gutted, because we won.

but he came in with two feet, right? In which case does it matter that he made contact? It was reckless, and Kuyt himself has admitted as much (even if it was unintentional).

Well, if you read the rules of the game (which I have, on many occasions and again today) you will see that intent and contact mean a lot.

It was a silly move to come off the ground, but it was clear that there was no intention to hit neville but to block the ball, it wasn't dangerous and the ref called it right by the laws of the game and what he did is deemed a yellow card.

Told ya he we're good Jaffa. ;)
He was better than that – absolutely fantastic so he was. And I tell you what, you were right about his pace – the only thing nippier than young Master Campbell was the frosty October air which chilled the very hearts of our hapless South Yorkshire cousins.

Do you think that if we tell Sir Alex his young charge isn't very good he'll fall for it and let us keep him? :)

Did I miss something somewhere about why Schmichael isn't starting in goal for Man City, he looked class when I saw him.

Somehow I very much doubt it. Highly rated around those parts so he is. As it would seem he is in Hull at the moment as well.

Hey, Markleshark, who's that FIAT guy in the red cap?
:p

...;)

Also... Jol for the sack today.

Also... Jol for the sack today.

With over a quarter of the season gone and with them in the relegation zone by rights, i.e. points rather than goal difference, i can't see how they won't sack him very soon. If not today and he loses the next game then bye bye. It is a shame because i actually like Jol.

The Chris Brass one is my personal favourite – I've seen it a few times and it still amuses. An own goal is bad enough, but breaking your nose in the process? :D

However, possibly the greatest own goal in the history of the game was by Jaffa Cake (New Pasture Lane Primary School vs Martongate Primary School), circa 1987...

Good night all round in the Champions League for the British teams last night then, just a shame the Barca couldn't break down Rangers. Anything for Rangers other than getting beat is a brilliant result though.

11 Goals between United and Arsenal though, not a bad effort I suppose. :)
