Derby is a given, I think Fulham though will just survive... leaving Sunderland and Middlesbrough occupying the other two relegation places. Or maybe not.

Plus, there's often a team who have a slump later in the season and drop down the table into trouble – I'll be keeping an eye on Reading.

Looking at the Premiership now there are far too many teams that are just not good enough to be in the 'best league in the world'. Just look at these teams:

Derby
Sunderland
Fulham
Wigan
Middlesbrough
Bolton
Birmingham
Reading

Not one of those teams play particularly attractive football and really don't give much to the Premiership. So if any of those 8 teams get relegated I don't think I will be too unhappy.

What a horrible call on the winner in the Chelsea-Newcastle game...could the ref have got it more wrong? Could Chelsea have been more offside?

Kudos to West Ham, Ronaldo's missed penalty made the difference but the Hammers got up for that game and scored two goals.

Dimitar Berbatov!!! Holy ****!

I see that Eduardo just scored Arsenal's equalizer against Everton...I think they'll be top of the league again by tonight.

The Motherwell captain, Phil O'Donnell, has died after collapsing during the 5-3 against Dundee.

What a waste....

Puts football into perspective.

Blimey. I heard on the radio that he'd collapsed and had been taken into hospital, but I wasn't aware that he'd died.

Sad news indeed.

Unfortunately it is becoming an all too familiar sight recently.

Is it a possibility that players are being trained too much and the authorities need to ensure that players have medical assessments on a more regular basis?

Let's not forget Leicester's Clive Clarke either, who collapsed due to heart failure at half-time in a tie against Nottingham Forest last August. Luckily, Clarke survived due to prompt medical attention.

I think players are pretty well checked as it is – no transfer goes ahead without a thorough medical for one thing, and players' health and diet and stuff are monitored very closely. As I understand it though there are a few rare heart conditions that are very hard to diagnose and can cause problems when the heart is put under a lot of stress, I don't know if there is a way players can be better checked for these.

It seems whenever there's a high profile instance of a player dying there are calls for better checks of their hearts and stuff, but it's soon forgotten about when the death slips out of the news...

At City we had Garry Brabin who had a heart trouble, but thankfully it was spotted and he managed to have a limited career in Wales I think.

Indeed – although his condition wasn't spotted until a while after he left us. He took up coaching after that before making a return as a player in non-league football, and he's currently a player-coach with TNS if memory serves.

I don't know if he takes any medication or anything to help control his heart condition, if not it seems a tad risky...

Didn't he play against Liverpool in the Champions League qualifier, strange that if he hadn't had a heart condition then he wouldn't have had that opportunity!

Frell! 1-0 >> 1-4! That second half seemed like it was dragged out of the dictionary as a definition of Murphy's law... how the frell can so many things go wrong... in that short amount of time... :(

Oh well, there's always next year... :p

He wasn't with TNS at the time, I don't think.

Reading the report on O'Donnell, one thing I'd forgotten about him is that he had a spell at Sheffield Wednesday a few years back – with this in mind there might be a minute's silence or something before our match against them tomorrow.

I would have thought so, even though his time there wasn't the most successful time, it is the least Hull City, as a club, can do. Unfortunately I won't be at the game, although the boxing day game was good enough for me!

R.I.P. O'Donnell...
As to the EPL we lost but are still in the race and 2nd so hey - everyone loses some points at Christmas. 6 out of 9 do far is not bad at all. Not to mention we lost twice vs Wet Spam, we're still in a good position to win the whole thing!

That or they're using enhancer drugs - not a nice thought but the use of enhancers is so rampant across all sports now with so much betting and money in it...Flo Jo is a classic example of someone dead too young most likely due to steroid use (of course unproven but widely believed to be the case). Of course O'Donnell's age might make you think it was just age and exhaustion, but 35 is still way too young to die..Sheringham is till playing at 40+...

We are toppa the league, say we are toppa the league!

What a **** performance, but clinical finishing from Eduardo.
