A similar story at the KC – not a vintage performance but we did what we had to do and Deano got the winner with an expertly taken freekick.

Mind, unlike your lot we're not top of the league or anything but we're two places and one point off the play-off positions, so I'm happy with that. :)

What a **** performance, but clinical finishing from Eduardo.

The scoreline really flattered Arsenal, but Eduardo's goals were excellent.

Man City defended well to hold Liverpool to a draw in a game where both sides were lacking in the final third; both teams missed clear chances and it should have been 2-1 Liverpool.

Less than 24 hours until the transfer window opens, who are you hoping your team buys (name or position)?

For me, really hope Birmingham get a decent left back and at least one solid centre back. Oh, and could do with another forward

Likewise, we need a good left back. We've only got one recognised left-sided fullback at the club, when he's injured or out of form his replacement is a centre back who is so obviously not a left back it's untrue. A really good pair of wingers (one for each side of the park) would be a bonus too.

Up front we're fine I think, especially with Campbell's loan extended. My understanding of that situation is that Man Utd have said they'll be happy to let him stay, but the deal needs to be fully finalised which will happen in the next few days.

Another call for a left-back for my club (Wigan). We don't have any recognized left-backs in the squad. Of the two we had last season, Baines was sold to Everton, and McMillan retired.

I think we already have two exceptional left-backs in the Hull City team, the problem is that the best left-back plays all his games at right-back! Therefore, in my opinion, we need a new right-back. Doyle has done nothing since coming from Derby so maybe a punt at a certain D. Mills?

Indeed, Ricketts can play at left back, as he does for Wales – but given how well he's done for us on his natural right my instinct would be to go for a naturally left-sided full back to provide competition for Dawson.

As for Doyle – he's made what, one appearance for us since his move here? I'm not sure exactly what's going on there... Brown clearly has his eye on him as 'one for the future' but surely he needs match experience if he's going to fulfil whatever potential he has?

I think too that if Mills was ever going to come to City permanently, he would have done so by now. Brown seemed keen, we've got the cash now to pay his wages, but no move. I think too his antics in our match at Charlton showed what a liability he can be at times. Better off without him, I feel.

Anelka for Chelsea most probably, but I'd personally like us to buy Noble to learn from Lamps, and I'll take half a dozen of the Aston Villa line-up, please ;)

Crouch and Torres should be starting every game; I'm beginning to think that Benitez is not starting Crouch for some reason that has nothing to do with his form or potential. Maybe Benitez feels compelled to start Kuyt & Voronin because benching them in favor of Crouch would be tantamount to admitting that they were bad buys. Instead he tries to save face by starting crap players.

The only reason Torres hasn't been rotated is because even Benitez realizes he's too damned good...benching him in favor of the Kuyt or Voronin would be too much even for the most die-hard scouser to take.

Soccernet is saying Liverpool is being linked with Ezequiel Garay, I've never seen him play but hes awesome in FM (although I wasn't able to sign him).

If I may gate crash with a Scottish Premier league story, I can't believe they canceled the Old Firm Ner'dy game.

I don't really agree with the decision, but after listening to Strachan and Smith on the radio I guess they didn't really have a choice Phil being such a recent Celtic player and would be on many peoples minds.

Happy New Year everybody!
:)

Having a bad feeling today... it would be typical to loose to a highly erratic Middlesbrough.

Not only is Arteta out after the harshly given red card, but now also Cahill and Yobo are staying home along with Gravesen... ok, Yobo might not be that big of a loss, after his performance last, but still...

Only hope now is that Yakubu are having a very good day against his old team... *** crossing fingers ***

Pfft, elbow/hand to the face = straight red. Simple. :) There was contact.

This is my 3000th post, I do believe.. of which 369 are in this thread!

How can an Arsenal fan post so much about football?

Half the time they didn't see what was happened!

Nah... even the papers here in Norway, who only care for Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea (in that order) plus whatever club there's a Norwegian playing for at the moment, commented that it was too harsh...

But with a 2-0 win today, and one of the three matches gone, who cares? :)

You see, it's funny... Because it's undeniably true. :D

Anywho, Carlisle need a couple of players in January if they are to keep the push for promotion going. A winger, a left back, and another forward. But, who needs a defense when you have Joe Garner up the other end!

Never mind all this 'Ooo, we should sign him' and 'Ooo, we should buy that striker'... the January transfer window isn't just about trying to buy in a player or two to bolster your team, it's also about clearing out all the useless deadwood who are currently wasting a squad number. :p

With this is mind – if you could get shut of any one of your players over the next month – who would get the boot?

Carlisle have a rather small squad, and honestly I don't think we'll get rid of any 'deadwood'. A couple of our players have been linked with moves away but fingers crossed we'll keep a hold of them.

You got any Hull players in mind there Jaffa Cake?

Sissoko - used to be so good
Hyypia - as much as it pains me to say
Kuyt - works very hard but ineffective

Those three would definitely get the chop if I were appointed manager.
