Thats the most laughable thing I've ever read in this thread. It really is.

Contract.

Bye Bye.

And if you're Fernando Torres and were convinced to sign because:
1. Rafa's the boss (common language, comfort etc.)
2. You think Liverpool is going places (the summit of the Premiership)

And both of those things are false at the end of your first season??

I would give my left kidney for a guaranteed 10 year Torres stay at Anfield (my right kidney is on offer for Gol TV) but I would understand if he followed Rafa out the door.

I've certainly not written this season off yet, if not the league, the European and FA cup.

You fancy your chances against the 'giant-killing' Havant and Waterlooville?
;) Good luck.

You must not drink much!

Wonder if we (Birmingham) will play our two new signings today. We were so unlucky against Chelsea (a game I missed as I was getting married) on the opening day of the season, another performance like that or the one from last week against Arsenal and we could get a draw.

sorry, i know this is a prem thread, but my beloved Wednesday is playing the pigs today....:) up you owls!

Come on the Wednesday (at Sheffield Uni)

BTW not much talk about the premiership goes on in here too many people who support lower league teams :p

DIC are supposedly going up with a take over bid. Would if Hicks will see it as a way out from the bumbling mess of his ownership.

...And I hope Hicks and Gillette sell out ASAP. Those ****ers are in it for a profit and nothing else. They don't care about the team, they don't care about the fans...I've become convinced that we're going nowhere with them. If they hang around much longer they won't even make their profit on a sale - though they will put the team in debt.

just went to the liverpool thread...no one has posted there in awhile...

Tottenham 2 - 0 Sunderland

Spurs win!!

Damn Newcastle and King Kev. Really was hoping they would beat Bolton by two goals. Still at least Spurs stuffed Sunderland. Just hope Everton can beat Wigan tomorrow.

Just got back from the pub after watching the game, what a snoozefest that was. Bolton seemed determined for a draw and Newcastle don't have the skill/tactical knowledge to break down a team. Was really a poor match.

Glad I've not bothered with Santan/Sinatra/Satan sports or what ever the hell that channel is called.

But to be honest, I can't see Newcastle improving that much under Keegan. As for Bolton, they will be in the relegation scrap, along with Birmingham, Wigan, fulham and Sunderland all season long. I know I didn't mention Derby, but lets be honest they are already pretty much down.

Proves absolutely nothing. You'd have to be naive as hell to listen to this post. If you can't see the difference, then I pity you.

Nice of Torres to come out and echo what I've said today though (purely coincidence of course, he's not reacted to my macrumors comments :D)

Journo: You seem happy, but what about when Benitez leaves…

- You didn’t see Anfield against Luton?

Journo: But the owners are not the supporters

- But the whole thing doesn’t exist. It’s all a lie. Benitez is not going to leave and they won’t sack him. Results aside, I don’t see it happening. I can’t even imagine it. I don’t think English football has lost its patience like it seems. And the newspapers here are not very trustworthy. That’s why they have less effect. I’ve seen interviews being published that I’ve never done. They just make them up.

AKA OMG WTF BBQ lOLeRXz RaFAz GetTiNz SaCKeD. tEh ClUBz FalLn ApARt.

As for player walking out.... It's pure fantasy, players can't just leave. They have lengthy contracts and are paid massive amounts of money for them. As for our captain leaving... get real.

Yes, technically players have contracts. Unfortunately clubs lack the courage to enforce them. How many times when a player wants to leave have you ever heard a club say "sorry, you have a contract, and if you don't want to play for us you can play in the reserves for 3 years till it expires", and then actually followed it up by doing just that?

The answer is never. Sure, the club always starts out by saying the player is going nowhere, but eventually concedes and sells.

Thus, while technically a player is under contract and cannot leave. If a player really wants to leave, it usually happens.

Totally agree, we've just signed James Mcfadden on a 3 1/2 year contract with the option for 2 more years, but if we get relegated this season (not that I think we will) I can't see him sticking around.

Another Titus Bramble howler gifts a goal to Everton. What a shocking surprise!:rolleyes::D

First off, I think the owners will leave before Rafa, but if Hicks and Gillette wanted to fire him tomorrow they could, and even if the Kop tore down Anfield it wouldn't change that.

I think DIC is offering H&G the option of getting out now at a profit, and since those two scumbags are only interested in profit I hope they take it.

A lot of managers have been fired lately though, you can't argue with that fact - and to me it seems that patience is too thin and demands for immediate results have bordered on the unrealistic at times this season.

And I'm still not happy with Rafa's team choices and his rotation. I know he has been a successful manager at Liverpool but right now Liverpool have no chance at the league (beyond a mathematical one), and are once again forced to look to Europe for a trophy. Which is fine, but Rafa talked about challenging for the league title, and instead we've been totally outplayed by Arsenal, United and to a lesser extent the quietly successful Chelsea.

I'm not saying Rafa should be fired, but right now results aren't good enough. Even if we win the Champions league there will be questions from more rational fans about our dodgy league form.

...And Dirk Kuyt is a donkey. Just had to throw that out there again. :)

They are really setting themselves up for failure on that...just look at the teams between Newcastle and 6th! They're no where near 6th place in this league. Good luck to them, but they have a steep hill to climb.

While looking at the table, I can't help noticing Liverpool's nine draws and 4-5-1 home record. :( Fortress Anfield? I believe the correct phrase would be "You're having a laugh!":D

I'd gladly wager anyone a box of Jaffa Cakes (proper McVities ones too, mind) that Newcastle will not win a major trophy during Kevin Keegan's tenure at St James' Park.

I say 'major' because someone will claim that by winning the North-East Counties Under-16 Girl's Shield or something they've picked up a trophy, but that doesn't cut any ice with me. ;)

So you're limiting it to the following 5: Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, and UEFA Cup?

Now why would I take a bet I know I can't win. Plus, I've already said on here that he'll be gone by the end of the 2008-08 season.
