Ok.

Not sure if I should really post this as it's again pretty grim, but do you still think it's not even a yellow card looking at this? What about anyone else? Take a look at that top left.

Stills only show much, watch the tackle on TV and you can see Taylor goes for the ball single footed. There are tackles like it every match, such a shame that this one ended the way it did.

Still though it is very high.

Come on, yes, stills only show so much - but look at that top left photo! He makes contact studs up with his shin and ankle! How can it not be a red?

You know, for me the worst thing about that sequence of pictures isn't the tackle itself, or Eduardo's twisted leg... it's the expression on his face in the last picture as he looks down at his ankle. The poor guy looks absolutely terrified. I really feel for him there.

I feel for him a lot too. Who knows how long he is going to be out for? Definitely missing our end of season run in, Euro 2008 - and probably part of next season too. Horrific.

You can't say it was very high, he caught him in the shin pad. To me (and it has nothing to do with the fact I'm a Blues fan) it was a run of the mill tackle that had a horrible ending.

His studs are in the position anyones would be when tackling. I don't know if you have seen the tackle on TV yet but you will see it was not a nasty tackle. It was the same tackle made many times in every game.

Ok then it was high. The ball is not near his feet so it is possibly late as well. It was high with his studs up with all the weight going forward with his leg locked down.

Interview with Wenger on 5 live in about 5 minutes.

I'm not going to look at the photos as I'm on my way out for lunch:)o), but by the description of the tackle it's a straight red whether it was malicious or a routine attempt that when horribly wrong...if you snap somebody's leg there has to be consequences.

I hope it wasn't intentional and I hope Eduardo makes a full recovery and gets back on the pitch as soon as possible, though it sounds pretty bad.

3-2 and Torres...er Liverpool, win. Once again our new signing earns his (colossal) paycheck. Let's hope Liverpool are set for a run of good form now...they certainly need it.

On a more positive note, we've just recorded a 2-1 win over West Brom at the Hawthorns – our first win there in over 30 years, apparently – moving us up to eighth by my reckoning. Ace. :)

I always like it when the away team wins there ;)

The icing on the cake being a shock 2-0 away win for us at Crystal Palace. :D

I'll say no more until those who haven't, have chance to see the tackle. If any one wants I've managed to record it and can e-mail it just incase MOTD don't show it.

I've seen what they showed on live TV, yes. For anyone that hasn't, you can see it here, although its pretty quick.

Foot goes in well over the ankle, into the side of his leg. Studs up. Breaks an assortment of stuff in his leg. Seems like a pretty simple call to me. No, most tackles shouldn't have the foot raised that high, for a sliding tackle the foot should be moving along the ground, not in the air like that.

Another picture here.

Something I've just read elsewhere:

Did Taylor "mean" to hurt Eduardo? A pic just before the tackle.

The conclusion was, probably not.. he has just mistimed his tackle and badly injured him. His mistiming lead the tackle to be high and not where he wanted it to be - doesn't mean he doesn't get sent off though.

Watching it at first it looked (for the direction the ball went) he got the ball, watching it again in slow-mo I'd say Taylor went for the ball but Eduardo managed to knock the ball away from Taylor's foot. But there is no way that he went for Eduardo's leg.

From the picture you posted it looks like Eduardo's studs could have stopped his foot moving as Taylor made contact. If his foot (Eduardo's) was an inch or so off the ground and all that would have happened is he would have landed on his arse and a free kick given. Taylor may have been booked if that was the case but not sent off. The ref sent him off when he saw the injury.

The ref sent him off before he realised the extent of the injury. Granted Eduardo is a victim of poor timing but it was late and high. It was a red card no matter the outcome of the tackle.

I really hope Eduardo manages to come back from this.

Ugh. Vomit...:(

That was horrible. I hope he recovers but having seen that I'll be surprised if he does.

i'm taking yer word for it. i saw the joe thiesman injury ad nauseam...and can't bear another look at something like that.

i hope he does comeback as well...

5-1 now.

I quite like seeing newcastle lose, especially since they heralded Keegan as their saviour. Should've kept Big Sam.

Man U fans singing there is only one Keegan.

It is all over.

Newcastle still have to play Blackburn (h), Liverpool (a), Tottenham (a), Portsmouth (a), West Ham (a), Chelsea (h) and Everton (a).

Can they make it to 40 points?

United are a massive offensive threat, but at the same time Newcastle defended terribly...

While I'm happy with the result against Middlesbrough, Liverpool should not have given up two goals...we rely on Carragher too much in the back, just as we rely on Torres too much up front.

That's a nasty schedule for any team, let alone Newcastle on current form. Derby is down and I think Fulham are going down as well, but the third spot is a toss-up between Birmingham, Reading, Bolton and Sunderland. I'm hoping Roy Keane keeps the Black Cats up.

That is a tough run but then again the other teams also have similar season end runs. They could slip away but I think they will be safe but just safe. There are a lot of mediocre teams that are jostling for relegation.

We are still missing Agger, has had a massive impact on our season and I think the Skrtel signing was to add cover for Agger but to also act as a replacement for Hyppia. We need another 2 defenders in our squad.

...and at least one more good striker. . Liverpool have always been a solid team on the defense so it's troubling to see them leaking goals. I guess I underestimated Agger's value a bit.

Well agger did score a few goals. Kuyt may be turning it around, I think perhaps repositioning him as a winger as in the Inter game is what is needed. He makes a good winger but not a good striker. Crouch needs to be in week in week out. Voronin hasn't been used much lately at all. But yes we still need someone else.
