In a recent interview with the Times Benitez has said that he considers Gerrard and Torres his strikeforce, so I'm a bit worried about Crouch's future.

Kuyt actually seems somewhat effective on the wings, and it seems that Benitez will keep him in that role for the foreseeable future.

19 goals for Gerrard and 21 for Torres...good for them but we're putting all our eggs in one basket.

well, technically it's two baskets.

We need a solid Right Sided Winger and we'll look a lot better (class full backs would be an added perk.)

david bentley has a really big head at the moment. i (along with wenger!) don't think he's good enough for a big4 team.

liverpool have already invested heavily in a winger* (babel) and i think it'd be worth giving him some more playing time before getting another. he can score some goals.

*although he prefers to be more central.

Liverpool, Chelsea, I will support you today! :)

AS Roma - Man. Utd. 0:2
What are we going to have on Old Trafford  5:0???
And no revenge from Roma for last year failure?
In spite of I support Man. Utd. in this pair I'm waiting for some kind of intrigue...

Babel is young and showing some inexperience, but he's got enormous potential...in a season or two he could prove to be a really important player for Liverpool.

Being a Lazio fan all I can say is Behrami ;):D;)

I watched the game with my Italian housemate and we was ecstatic. I honestly don't see there being a comeback from there and it is all a case of saving face now.

Looking forward to tonights action, Chelsea have it easy the big game is obviously Arsenal - Liverpool. Arsenal are an unknown quantity in Europe for us so they could prove to be very tricky to say the least. I really can't have my usual Liverpool optimism about this match. They were the one team I didn't want to face at this point. At least the second leg is at Anfield.

United scare me more than Arsenal, even in Europe. And speaking of Liverpool's home ground, whatever happened to "Fortress Anfield"? Six draws and a loss there in the league...

I think we can beat Arsenal in the CL ties, but I think we may drop points in the league match.

What we need to do is go out there and score two away goals like United did against Roma.

~Talk of the Wendies~
Looking at the league table, one huge advantage in your favour is your goal difference which is vastly superior to the majority of teams around you. When we were in a similar situation to you last year, it proved a useful cushion because ours was so much better than that of dirty, dirty Leeds. We went into the last game still mathematically being at risk of the drop, but we'd have had to have lost and Leeds would have had to have won by a cricket score to overturn the difference.

Cherish that goal difference – it's as good as a point at the bottom of the table. ;)

Heh. We've beaten Lazio in Europe. :D

It was 1973, mind.

All tied up 1-1 at the Emirates, with Kuyt (!) actually bagging a potentially important away goal. But this game's far from over.

Van Persie has been substituted but seems to have had a good game, assisting on Adebayor's goal.

Arsenal look to be winning the battle for possession in the second half of a clean game (no cards).

I wanna see a winner at the death for the Reds. :D

Are either of you watching the game on TV? If so, was Fabregas' shot going in when Bendtner blocked it? That play might prove to be the difference in this game...

Watching it here and it was definitely on its way in. If Carragher or another Liverpool defender had blocked the ball in such a fashion he'd have been congratulated for his quick thinking and fleet-footedness.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have lost 2-1 to Fenerbahce in their Champions League match. Expect the tabloids to refer to Grant and his players as turkeys, headless chicken or some similar poultry-based fun tomorrow. :p
