Gotta love it

Quality picture!

:D

May well have a chance to get tickets properly through the club for the Carling Cup Final (hard with 44,000 season ticket holders ahead of you). :D I'm very excited about that.

Good stuff! How many tickets have the club actually been allocated?

29,000 - not bad for a Final - better than the FA Cup, Champions League and World Cup Finals. Given we have 44,000 season ticket holders I'm pretty surprised I may be able to get a ticket. Not complaining though. :)

Yes, not bad – hopefully your luck will hold and you'll be able to get your hands on a couple of tickets. :)

This talk of Arsenal season tickets reminds me – I was listening to one of the football phone-ins the other night and an Arsenal fan was on, complaining about Wigan's approach to their match against the Gunners. What staggered me was the comment that he didn't spend £3,500 on a season ticket to watch that kind of display.

I've never really paid much attention or given much thought as to how much a season ticket would cost me to go along to the Emirates every other week, but it appears that it's anywhere between £2,500- £4,750! I remember that when Sky started pouring money into the Premier League, one of the pledges from the clubs was that it would allow them to subsidise ticket prices and reduce costs for the spectators who actually bothered to attend matches. It doesn't look like much progress has been made on that front, unfortunately.

Now I remember why I don't have a season ticket.

That is for a season ticket in the new 'Club Level' at Ashburton - a middle tier 10 rows deep where you have the best views in the stadium. You get free drinks at half time, etc.

For a normal season ticket, the starting price is £885 for the wings and behind the goals lower tier, £970 for half way lower tier, and so on.. until you reach £1825 for a half way line upper tier front 10 rows seat.

The season tickets include all home Premiership games, and 5 cup ties I believe. I can't remember whether the group stage CL games are just included by default in addition to the 5 cup ties, or there are just more than 5 included. The only game so far this season that hasn't been included on a season ticket has been Spurs at home - Carling Cup.

Oh - and under 18's season ticket is £330 for the same deal as above - that's for wings and behind goal lower tier.

Thanks for clearing that up. £885+ is still bloody pricey but not jaw droppingly so. I suppose as well you don't have to watch QPR come to visit either. :p

The way things are going well will have to be playing Crewe, Port Vale and Carlisle (ducks and runs for cover...)

Crap.

I was really looking forward to seeing Arsenal live on TV again, especially at home! So here it was:
Arsenal v Blackburn. Live on BBC.

But thanks to Blackburn's tactics I was bored stiff. This was an excellent example of "how not to loose, when you believe you haven't got a chance".
I remember a Monty Python video named "How to irritate people". Playing like Blackburn did could have fitted in nicely.
Ugh.

Oh well, I assum they will play with a little more pride at home.
We'll get them there.

Looks like I'm not going to get any tickets for this final - I haven't been emailed by the club to notify me :(. Pretty disappointed with that, would love to go to Cardiff again.

To confirm - those silver members with 32 credits or more were contacted - I have 27 credits. :( How ****.

The FA cup drawings are out and another round for for the BIG 3 to dodge each other. Chelsea face the spurs, while Arsenal or Blackburn (who ever decides to score a goal) face Man City, Man U or Reading face Middlesbrough or West Brom.

GO BLUES

Warm-up event for Wembley delayed

Wembley officials insist this year's FA Cup final on 19 May will still take place at the new stadium, despite a delay to a planned warm-up event.

A community day was set for 3 March and was designed to be one of two 'ramp-up' events staged in order to fulfil a stadium safety requirement.

It has now been rescheduled for 17 March, which means the 11 March England women's game with Holland may be moved.

"We remain on track to host the FA Cup final," said Wembley chief Alex Horne.

Up to 60,000 people from Wembley's surrounding borough of Brent are expected to be in attendance at the community event to look at the new venue.

If the local council agree to give the stadium a provisional safety certificate then there could be a warm-up event, such as an England Under-21 match, scheduled for the following week.

Only after the match has taken place will Wembley receive a general stadium safety certificate.

"The Football Association will only announce the 2007 Cup final at Wembley once the stadium has been granted its general safety certificate," added Wembley managing director Horne.

"We are on course to go through the necessary testing procedures in order to get the certificate. I'd like to thank Brent council for being understanding and helpful as we look to start that formal process."

I can say with 100% sincerity that I'm totally surprised by the news that something to do with the new Wembley has been delayed.

The BBC are reporting that the Premier League has cleared Javier Mascherano to play for Liverpool this season:

"The Premier League is satisfied that the contractual arrangements proposed by Liverpool FC are consistent with its rules; particularly that the relationship between club and player is not subject to third-party influence.

"The Premier League is grateful for Liverpool FC's cooperation and openness at the start and throughout the process."

So does the fact that Rafa Benetiz has an extra midfielder to field mean that the versatile Stevie G is going to play in goal from now on?

:p

By the way, a little bit of design-related news...

The Premier League has rather quietly gone and got itself a new logo.

Apparently, as well as being on their website and stuff this new device will be appearing on next season's sleeve patches. Even more excitingly for us typography-obsessed football fans, they're issuing a new typeface for the name and numbers that appear on the back of the shirts, to replace the squashed-up version of Optima they've been using for the past ten years or so. I've not been able to track down any pictures of the new-look lettering, so I can't say whether or not it's the same as the one used on the logo itself.

Whatever they've decided on, I hope it's better than the typeface they're using in the Football League at the moment...

Markleshark was enquiring after the enigma that is Michael Bridges a little earlier – here's an update on what he's been up to, namely headbutting a Rotherham reserve teamer. The last player who pulled this stunt never played for the club again (coincidentally we offloaded him to Rotherham), so Bridges' future at Hull looks to be in the balance... :(

Finally a road win. Spurs have been pissing me off lately. Can they not smuggle their meds into other fields?
