Was it your keeper that has something like 10 clean sheets in a row? Broke some kind of record today then didnt he?
Wayne Hennessey. Sadly we've only got him on loan from Wolves, but he's now played 9 League games in his entire career and not let in a single goal in any of them. You'll hear his name again in the future for certain.

Saying that though, the defence in front of him has been rock solid, so it's not a one man show by any means. Gannon has put one hell of a team together (especially Anthony Elding, signed the week we started this run), and since so many of them are youngsters things should keep getting better. :)

Now, if only Saracens beat Sale tomorrow my weekend is complete

Yeah, thought it was, was on Soccer Night the other, well, night.

Good effort. :D
Cheers!! Jimbo seems to be constantly on the TV and radio at the moment, although that's a bit worrying. He and Peter Ward are completely responsible for the club's turnaround, they go as a package, and after this season there are going to be a lot of big name clubs looking at them both. In our favour, Jim is a long-time County supporter and has stated that he wants to set the club back on the right path permanently before he'll consider moving on. If what he's done so far is anything to go by, we'll have the ground back, millions in the bank and be back in the Championship before we know it :)

You sound like a Carlisle fan. ;)

Yeah, we had a one like that. Don't let it fool you, football is a cruel mistress. We had back to back promotions with Paul Simpson. He went on record saying he wouldn't leave us because he was a Carlisle lad born and bred... Then 2 weeks later Preston came with a fat cheque and we we're manager-less and all his good work was undone, really, hes hated in these parts now the judas bastard. No one is loyal in these days of football im afraid.

Hope it all goes well for you'ze tho, can't see us getting into the Championship this year but a consistent year with totally new management staff will do for us. Up to 9th for now, so not far away. ;)

Looking at your squad list, you do seem to have a lot of players who have come through the ranks at the club. It's nice to see that this policy seems to have been rewarded with success on the pitch.

Unfortunately, our youth-development has been especially poor in the past for a number of reasons. Things are looking a little better now though, with some apparently promising youngsters coming through. Time will tell. ;)

Yeah Simpson left, but only after getting you promoted twice. County aren't a big team. There's absolutely no chance of us getting to the Premiership within the next generation, so we're quite realistic. Basically if Jim gets us back into League One, gets the finances on a good foundation (he's also a certified accountant :D ), and organises the club so it looks like we'll stay at that level for a while, he'd have to leave to work at Halliburton for me to hate him. Maybe if you'd had Carlton Palmer managing your club in recent history like we did you'd be a bit more sympathetic to Simpson :D

As for my day, not bad. United beat Liverpoor, prolly didn't deserve to but that doesn't matter. Just hope Rooney isnt that badly hurt. Also, is it a 3 game ban for a straight red? It is aint it, 1 for 2 yellows and 3 for a straight red. Bah!

I thought it was 2 matches for a straight red, 1 for a red resulting from 2 yellows, and 3 for a straight red for violent conduct (what Eboue, Adebayor, Toure and now presumably Scholes got). All those figures go up by 1 if its the second time in the season, 2 if its the third, etc..

From Wikipedia...

As of 2006 in England, if a direct red card is shown the åplayer is sent off immediately and faces an automatic three-match ban, but this can be overturned with a successful appeal... In the case of a red card that was shown after two yellow cards, the player is sent off and receives an automatic one match ban without the right to appeal.

Ahh ok, thanks for clarifying that. So a straight red for violent conduct is the same as any straight red.

Good results for us today really - 1 point off Liverpool with 2 games in hand. If we win both our games in hand, and Chelsea win their 1 game in hand (on United and Liverpool) we will be third, 3 points off Chelsea in second. We have still got to play Chelsea at Ashburton Grove on the second to last game of the season - so there is still hope of beating those ****s for second place and automatic CL qualification.

Not quite.

Players receive a one-match ban for (a) two yellow cards, (b) a straight red card awarded for denying a goalscoring opportunity by physical means or by handling (Robbie Keane against Bolton on 25 February, for example).

Players receive a two-match ban for a straight red card awarded for offensive, insulting or abusive language or gestures.

Players receive a three-match ban for a straight red card awarded for violent conduct, serious foul play or spitting.

Where a player is suspended multiple times in the same season, an additional one-match ban is served for each subsequent suspension. For example, a player dismissed for violent conduct and suspended for a third time in the season would serve a five-match ban.

Thanks, I thought there was something about a 2 game ban. I remembered Senderos getting a straight red against Fulham for being the last defender and fouling the attacker, and only getting a 1 game ban too. So Wikipedia is wrong!

Although I'm glad they won, I would have been happier about Spurs' comeback if it had been against someone better than West Ham.

The porous defense is getting on my nerves.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"To be quite honest, I am pretty sure I would have broken into the England squad by now if I was playing for the MU Rowdies or Liverpool. I do think the Bolton thing holds you back a bit" - Kevin Nolan on September 6, 2006.

"Ever since I've been at Bolton I've never thought that I would have to leave to get international recognition" - Kevin Nolan today.

From The Guardian's Fiver football email. A classic. :p

Ha, didn't hear that one, but I did read the other one where he contradicts this. I think he would be on the England squad if he played for Liverpool or Man U.

Anyway I think Nolan should get the call-up. Gerrard and Lampard seem ineffective together, they both like to play the same role, so bench one and play somebody else instead. I don't think McLaren has the balls to bench one of them though.

Why do you agonize over the personnel decisions of an English squad that's just going to let you down again anyway? :D

It's the national pastime. :)

As a special treat seeing as how you're now supporting an English side, we'll grant you honoury status as an England supporter. All you have to do is this – whenever England scrape a win against some Eastern European team you've never heard of, tell everyone we're going to win the World Cup, and this is the greatest team since '66... that sort of thing. Whenever they lose, slag off the manager, the players, the tactics, the formation, and comment endlessly on how you could do the job better than the incumbent manager. If you can develop the mentality that we have the God-given right to win every tournament we participate in simply because we're England you've got it cracked.

Piece of cake, really. ;)
