If you can develop the mentality that we have the God-given right to win every tournament we participate in simply because we're England you've got it cracked.

Piece of cake, really. ;)

In other words, our mentality about all of our sports. We don't even bother having our club champions matched up against teams from other countries. We know we'd win anyway. However, we have been the best at our sports within my lifetime (if not now), so we've got that going for us.

Sometimes I think that the only thing holding world soccer together is that the U.S. doesn't dominate it. If the U.S. national team actually won the World Cup, then many soccer-loving nations might start questioning its usefulness. :p

See, that's the difference between our nations. The US invents sports like American football and basketball that they can dominate everyone else in. Meanwhile, we English invent sports like Association Football, rugby and cricket and watch on in despair as the world kicks our arses at them. :p

Fortunately for the rest of the world, they don't care about American football anyway, and we don't bother fielding a real national team in basketball or baseball, just a marketing-driven all-star team that can't play well together. It's almost as if we invented a way for other countries to participate without any real-world ramifications. Just like the UN.

Well, you actually play the rest of the world for, starters. When we Americans actually compete against other nations in baseball and basketball we've ended up getting spanked more than once...

I'm a USA national team supporter first and and England supporter second, but that's easy because right now our national team is a joke - we never play our good players (the ones competing in European pro leagues) in friendlies, so the "national team" is essentially the Major League Soccer All-Stars, and they play chump-change opponents in the USA only. The only time we assemble our first-team players is for the World Cup...

Fulham has three American starters now, so I've been watching them a lot more now. Liverpool is the team that got me into the Premier League, but I like watching Carlos Bocanegra, Clint Dempsey, Brian McBride and Watford's Jay DeMerit. If we can't build a league at home at least we can build a presence in England.

See, your doing it all wrong. I've never ben an England fan, I hate watching them, always have... So what I did was go... Ohhhhh, Orange... I support me some Holland and then, kind of the same thing happens that does with England. Tar Well. Better lcuk next time I guess.

That said, I can't stand International football anyway. That and cup finals. Why do we need hand shaking, national anthems and general toss before the start of a game. It's a real pain right in the arse.

We should be playing powerhouse teams every chance we get. It's the only way to improve. When was the last time we had a friendly against England? Or Spain? It's not our fault that CONCACAF isn't very strong, but it is our fault for not scheduling friendlies against tougher opponents.

I once saw a good suggestion that we should host a tournament around July 4th.

At least the CONCACAF will force us to play games in hostile venues. I can't wait till we play Venezuela.

When we played Denmark in Cali a month or so ago it was basically MLS All-Stars versus the Danish B-team...whoop dee doo.

5-2. 5-2.

Five. Two.

Even Francis bloody Jeffers scored.

That's right, Francis bloody Jeffers.

That's definitely true. Europe's national teams rarely have to play at Azteca. Between the smog, altitude, and the hostility of 120,000 Mexican patriots, it may be the toughest place to play. Then there's at Jamaica, where the players get a contact high from the permanent cloud of ganja smoke that hovers over the stadium.

Devastated. i can't believe the scouse dirty gets beat Barca, and Chelsea came from behind. Now all my hopes rest with PSV.

You gotta admit though Liverpool didnt put a foot wrong over both legs so although Im not happy about going out at least it wasnt in crappy circumstances.

Im actually resting my hopes with Liverpool because they have that passion that no other team has. Its all down to Gerard and Carragher. Those two are just unbelievable.

Barca were ****. It's true im afraid. Big Frank wont last till the end of the season if they keep loosing those big games. I was gutted though, in a bar full of Liverpoor fans when Gudjohnsen scored and I thought maybe, just maybe. But it wasn't to be. It's more annoying because you still saw flashes of Barca's quality, like Ronnie hittin the post and a couple of Deco moments, so you know its still there. As they say though, form is temporary, class is preferment. Then Chelsea went and scored and I just couldn't handle it. It's ok as long as an English team wins? No chance. My English team or none.

I dont think Barça were ****. They had over 70% posession all match but Liverpools plan was to pressure them as soon as they crossed the hafway line. Liverpool were much more relaxed and confident. There were flashes of the real Barça but too few. Once Eto'o is fully fit we will start playing better. They have ahd moments like agaisnt Bilbao last week when they were awesome again but they just dont seem to be up for the big games.

Barça need another Puyol to sure up the defence. Marquez is good but he tends to play better in the def mid position. Edmilson needs to go because he gives the ball away way too often and causes most of Barças problems. A new younger left back and a younger right back is needed. I would love Dani Alves to come to barça. He is very much like Gerrard in his consistency and determination. We need another player like him (Puyol being the other).

Strike force is fine if Saviola goes we still have Ezquerro and Guddy and a 16 year old called Bojan. He is apparently "amazing" also there is another kid called Dos Santos who is about 17 I think and he too is set to be as good if not better than Messi.

There is talk of David Albelda (def mid) coming in from Valencia. Hes a good player but im not quite sure if thats who we need. Hes also 29.

The great Barça we knew is fading unfortunately but we can still be a major force for a while. :)

But it's fine. The universe has restored all. Now we just have a fortnight of AW moaning to contest with.

Good win for United though, there was a lot of talk of them playing badly, I thought they did pretty well.

Hmm... they've just said on Sky Sports that Thierry Henry has apparently torn muscles in his stomach and groin, and that he's going in for scans later today to assess the full extent of his injury.

Not good news for Arsenal, to put it mildly.
