Not a good game for Liverpool - lots of possesion but few chances. We are lucky Chelsea didn't score more. Still, a 1-0 result means it's still all up for grabs at fortress Anfield...

I'm still hoping for an AC Milan/Liverpool final.

How is it that Bolton, missing six starters, can draw with Chelsea and yet Liverpool can't get anything done against them in the Champions League semis?

They'd better show up at Anfield next week ready to score some goals.

I think it's time to get that trophy engraved, the league competition is over...

Premiership is decided now. Chelsea's own fault. Blackadder - everything is different in a Champions League semi final. Totally different atmosphere and approach by both teams.

Different in a bad way for Liverpool, who were beaten by Portsmouth today. What a time for a slump!

Anyway, the atmosphere in Anfield will be different Wednesday, since the Champions league means more to Chelsea now than it did last week. I'm not looking forward to seeing Chelsea advance after a dull tie.

WTF??? Sam Allardyce just resigned from Bolton
Yep, him gone. Given the talk that there's been over the past few days I thought he might be out of there at the end of the season, but the timing of the announcement – when there are still a couple of games to be played – does seem very odd indeed.

Rumours say that Manchester City might be looking at him as a replacement for Pearce...

Bit of a surprise, or maybe not. He hasn't been the same since he didn't get the England job, and the Panorama programme took its toll. He's done a good job and left the club in a great position in the league and with an enviable behind the scenes setup. Now, who do you think will replace him? I think that Gary Speed will be part of the new management structure, maybe even the manager.

They're reckoning on the radio that Sammy Lee will be unveiled by Bolton tomorrow, promoted from assistant to full-time boss. It would make sense, keep some continuity because as you rightly say there's a great setup at the club and Sammy's been a big part of that.

There's definitely something wrong with this news and I've a feeling it might be to do with the Panorama programme - or at least the investigations after it (the actual program was pathetic).

Family reasons/another club/whatever line they're spinning, if it was amicable or positive he'd have stayed the two games till the end of the season. The fact that there's so many officials (Bolton reps and the like) gushing about him and giving vague explanations to his exit make it all the more dodgy.

More to come on this I think.

Maybe the FA have been on the blower...

... Er, Sam. We've got this lemon and we we're wondering if...

Now that would be good! Dodgy dealings or not, Big Sam would kick the England boys into shape, no doubt about it.

Actually the more I think about it the less I think him resigning was anything to do with Panorama/transfer dealings. Definitely think there's more to it than "personal reasons", though.

YEESSSSSS!!!!!!!

Liverpool are through and Chelsea are out. 1-1 AET on aggregate. Liverpool win 4-1 on penalties :)
